OPPO Reno11 F 5G BCN + PH Camera Samples - See to believe!

The new OPPO Reno11 F 5G is not equipped with the most eye-popping tech and numbers on paper in its class.

In particular, the handset boasts a large 64MP f/1.7 main camera with AF, an 8MP f/2.2 112-degree ultra-wide-angle, and a 2MP f/2.4 macro at the back. In front, it uses a 32MP f/2.4 shooter with fixed focus.

But since it is a 2024 Reno-branded smartphone, it shouldn't be overlooked. This is still a "Portrait Expert" smartphone with OPPO's signature camera optimizations.

In fact, we even said in our impressions that its cameras were able to produce accurate colors that pop and have deep dynamic range whether in 1x, 2x, or even ultra-wide.

So, we took the device to a spin in Barcelona, Spain, and here in Metro Manila, Tagaytay, and Cavite, Philippines.

Here are our shots.

What I really enjoyed about the cameras of the Reno11 F 5G is how natural our shots look. Aside from being crisp with good enough range, colors are accurate and grain is hardly noticable.
Daylight ultra-wide
Daylight ultra-wide

For ultra-wide snaps, it takes high-quality images with minimal barrel distortion despite only using an 8MP sensor. The colors are similar to the primary shooter as well. This is a fun camera mode to use in landscapes and cityscapes.

Also, even if it only has a 64MP sensor, it could still be useful for zoom close-up snaps. Yes, artifacts and some noise would be visible, but shots will still be social media-ready most of the time. I would also like to note that it captures images quite fast. It was a little windy hen I took the flower shots above.

Again, going back to its primary shooter. It produces near-life-like images making it ideal in different scenarios including food photography.

In dimmer lighting conditions like this restaurant lighting, shots can still shine even up to 50mm (2x zoom) using the primary camera.

Look at this pink lady drink shot and the Japanese Damascus knife shot we took above. Pretty crisp and still rich in colors right?

As mentioned in our impressions article before, the camera's portrait mode can shoot high-quality 1x and 2x Portrait shots. We prefer the 1x for the environmental portraits while 2x for the more intimate shots. The edge detection was good as it was able to detect the subject well.

In low light, its cameras will struggle a little. But if you will be shooting non-moving subjects, no problem. It produces shots as good or even better than the competition with minimal noise, crisp enough details, and fairly natural colors.

Generally, our shots in the dark are mostly decent to great. This is one of the better and faster low-light shooters at this price point.

For selfies, we find its 32MP f/2.4 snapper to be one of the better shooters at this price point. Unlike other mid-rangers in the past, it delivers close-to-natural-looking images with almost no beautification when the beauty mode is off.

The Portrait bokeh is also quite nice with pretty good overall edge detection with minimal misses.

Quick thoughts

For its PHP 18,999 asking price, the OPPO Reno11 F 5G is equipped with one of the better primary cameras for photography in its class. I find it great for taking high-quality images in daylight even in dimmer situations. The zoom even if it doesn't have a dedicated tele camera takes lossless up to 2x shots that could impress even some picky users.

While I would have liked it better if it had no filler 2MP cameras and if they made the 8MP shooter a little higher-res, this is still one of the better shooters in the under PHP 20K range.

For videos, we are still testing it. Watch out for our full review.
