OPPO has announced the global version of the Reno12 Series. In this article, we will tackle the Pro variant.
The global version differs from its China counterpart, particularly in the processor and camera department.
This version comes with a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy chipset with Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. MediaTek and OPPO emphasized this chip for its "exceptional power efficiency".
Another thing that changed is the cameras. This now uses a 50MP Sony LYT-600 OIS main cam + 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide sensor + 50MP Samsung JN5 2x telephoto camera and is capable of up to 20x digital zoom.
In front, the OPPO Reno12 Pro uses a 6.7-inch Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protected curved OLED screen with FHD+ 2412 x 1080 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1,200 nits of peak brightness, HDR10+, In-Display fingerprint reader and houses 50MP Samsun JN5 selfie camera.
The chip mentioned above is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 expandable storage and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging.
Others mentioned are the stereo speakers, infrared sensor, and IP65 water and dust resistance rating.
The firm also touts AI Eraser 2.0, which makes it easy to remove undesired objects from pictures, and AI Clear Face, which reduces distortion and improves group shots with HD clarity. AI Smart Image Matting 2.0 facilitates fast cutouts and creative element additions to images, while AI Best Face automatically opens closed eyelids in group shots. With just one image, users of AI Studio may alter haircuts, add backdrops, and produce gorgeous group images.
Connectivity features are 5G, 4G, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and dual SIM.
OPPO also introduced the BeaconLink features which turn the Reno12 Series into an advanced walkie-talkie. This particularly allows the phones to do voice calls while not having cellular coverage or subscription at up to 200m using proprietary protocols over Bluetooth.
For OS, the phone runs Android 14 with ColorOS 14 skin on top.
