Most advanced pair of AR glasses?
Tech giant Meta has finally unveiled its AR glasses called Orion, the "most advanced pair of AR glasses ever made." This brings the physical and virtual worlds together, enabling people to feel more connected and empowered, it added.
According to Meta, the Orion glasses have the largest field of view in the smallest AR glasses form to date. This feature unlocks immersive use cases for Orion, from multitasking windows and big-screen entertainment to life-size holograms of people.
While it is a pair of AR glasses, Orion still features transparent lenses. Users can also still see people's faces, making it a more social experience.
Meta’s smart assistant, Meta AI, was also integrated into Orion.
It understands what you’re looking at in the physical world and can help you with useful visualizations. So you can open up your refrigerator and ask for a recipe based on what’s inside. Or video call a friend while adjusting a digital family calendar as you wash the dishes, the company said.
Users can also make hands-free video calls in real-time and even use WhatsApp and Messenger to view and send messages.

The Orion AR glasses design |
Meta said Orion is not yet available for sale as it focuses on internal development.
Furthermore, Meta has opened access to the Orion prototype for Meta employees and select external audiences. This aims to help the development team learn, iterate, and build the company’s consumer AR glasses product line.
Meta said it is also focused on tuning Orion's AR display quality, optimizing wherever needed to make the form factor even smaller, and building at scale to make them more affordable.
In the next few years, you can expect to see new devices from us that build on our R&D efforts. Orion isn't just a window into the future – it’s a look at the very real possibilities within reach today, Meta said.
