Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 for content creation?
While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 isn't explicitly marketed as a phone for content creators, I've always believed that any modern smartphone can become a powerful tool for content creation.
With its foldable design and multitasking capabilities, I've decided to put the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 to the test. Here’s how the phone held up during planning, filming, and editing of one of my videos for my weekly Midweek Motivation content.
Spoiler: You can actually already view the final output HERE!
Planning my content
Every piece of content that I’ve put out was always carefully planned. While I was using the Fold6, I found out firsthand that its features made the process smoother and more efficient than I expected.
|
Comfortable typing experience with the large, spacious main screen |
The large, spacious screen allowed me to have a comfortable typing experience, making it easy to write my script. The Fold6's cover screen is already large enough, but once unfolded, the main screen felt like I was working on a mini-tablet.
|
Split-screen functionality allows for multitasking |
One of my personal standout features of the Fold6 is its ability to run two apps simultaneously. During the planning phase, I used the split-screen functionality to write my script on one side while simultaneously checking synonyms on WordHippo.com on the other. This multitasking feature really maximized my productivity.
|
The voice-to-text feature allows for hands-free typing |
And as a content creator on the go, I'm often driving to various locations. While I was on the road and stuck in Manila traffic, I used Fold6's voice-to-text feature to dictate my script–– turning waiting times into productive moments. The voice recognition worked surprisingly well, capturing my words almost 100 percent accurately with very minimal edits.
Filming my content
|
Flex Mode: it's like having a built-in tripod for stability |
The Z Fold6's foldable design allowed me to set it up at various angles without even needing a tripod. I used the phone's Flex Mode to capture hands-free shots as I filmed myself. I could already imagine that this feature could come in handy when filming certain shots for tutorials, unboxing, or product demos.
|
The Dynamic AMOLED screen allows for better visibility even in broad daylight |
One challenge I often face while filming in broad daylight is reading scripts on CapCut's built-in teleprompter on my smartphone's screen. Thanks to the Z Fold6's Dynamic AMOLED display, I was able to easily see the teleprompter even under bright daylight, saving me from squinting and making mistakes while filming outdoors.
And while it doesn't have the best under-display camera at 4MP when unfolded, the footage still turned out to be really decent given the lighting conditions outdoors.
|
Why use the front cam to take selfies if you can use the main one? |
Now upon further tinkering, I discovered that I could actually use the 50MP main camera as I control it through the cover display while the phone is flipped open. With it, I was able to capture images and videos in high resolution while taking selfies, which I found very useful as I filmed my content for my monthly Kpop Nights with friends at The Studio Dance Club. |

Editing my content
For most of my TikTok content, I use CapCut for editing–and the Z Fold6 has proven to be a very efficient device for this app.
|
Ample screen display: It's like editing on a tablet |
With the Z Fold6, I was able to enjoy ample screen display for precise editing, which allowed me to make timeline adjustments, cuts, and add text displays and effects, in a less cramped workspace unlike any of my smartphones.
|
The Z Fold6's Snapdragon 8 allows for fast rendering and export |
And thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the Z Fold6 handled all the editing tasks with ease. I could seamlessly scrub through footage and apply overlays and effects without noticeable lags, which is essential for speeding up the editing workflow. The Z Fold6 also handled rendering and exporting the video output at 4K resolution pretty quickly.
