HONOR reveals the tech inside the X9c 5G and why it is so tough

HONOR revealed the tech behind its ultra-durable HONOR X9c 5G and what makes it a tough device.

The brand says the upcoming device brings next-level sturdiness. You've probably come across a lot of viral reels and TikTok about the X9c 5G's drop test or being submerged in boiling water. This time HONOR shared some of its secrets on how to achieve such a feat.

HONOR X9c 5G has an All-Angle Triple Defense now. It is not just drop-resistant anymore which HONOR X9a and X9b 5G were known for. It is now water and heat-resistant made this smartphone the toughest phone to hit the market yet,” said HONOR Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng.

Below is the list of what's behind the HONOR X9c 5G's Ultra-Tough technology:

1. Back-to-back Super Double Tempered Glass - Apart from the screen using reinforced tempered glass, the X9c's camera module also uses the same material. HONOR claims, this is tougher than others making it more resistant to drops or scratches. This increases the HONOR X9c 5G's 360-degree drop resistance up to two meters in height. Additionally, the Honor X9c 5G has withstood over ten surface drop tests on asphalt, gravel, marble, cobblestone, and more.
2. Technical principle under-screen shock-absorbing material - HONOR says that they employ shock-absorbing materials to fill the gap between the screen and the middle frame, reducing the effect of the middle frame's hard supporting objects on the screen.
3. 3-layer Water-Resistant Structure - The first layer provides external leakage port protection for side key ports, SPK holes, and card tray holes, using an improved LIM (Liquid Injection Molding) rubber ring. The next layer (2nd) of protection for the interface includes a USB rubber sleeve with straight surface matching and double-sealing ribs. Additionally, the cardholder pokes pinholes to control roughness and decrease leakage. The third layer provides board-level and software protection, including BTB protection with foam, waterproof detection, and software protection.
