Canalys: Apple secures top spot in Global tablet market (2024), Xiaomi sees largest growth

Apart from the mobile market, Apple was also the leader in the tablet industry last 2024 based on Canalys' report.

A strong year for Apple and Xiaomi

Global tablet shipments saw a 9 percent increase in 2024 which is equal to 147.6M units shipped.

Canalys' sell-in shipments data says that Q4 2024 recorded 39.9M units, delivering a 5.6 percent YoY growth compared to the previous year of the same quarter.

Apple emerged as the clear leader, shipping an estimated 56.9M iPads and taking 38.6 percent of the pie.

Samsung trailed in the 2nd place with 27.8M shipments and an 18.8 percent share, while HUAWEI claimed the third spot with 10.4M units shipped or equivalent to 7.3 percent market share.

Lenovo gets the 4th spot for selling 10.4M units and holding a 7.1 percent market share. 

Xiaomi completes the top five with 9.2M shipments and a 6.2 percent market share, producing a remarkable 73.1 percent annual growth.

With this development, Xiaomi was able to overthrow Amazon and its Fire tablets from the global top-five list.

The experts noted that the global PC market refresh cycle was pivotal in boosting tablet demand. 

Finally, researchers claim corporate tablet demand could see more demand this 2025. However, the consumer segment may experience slower performance due to shifting priorities and economic factors.
