Geely EX5 Electric SUV launched in PH, Coolray and Emgrand Hybrid vehicles refreshed for 2025

GEELY Philippines launched the EX5 full-electric SUV and has refreshed the Coolray and the Emgrand to be more competitive in 2025.

The Chinese car manufacturer has updated the Coolray and the Emgrand with noticeable visual and internal upgrades. Geely even coined the term "Powered-Up" about the changes made on the Coolray. The new Coolray measures 438 x 181 x 161.5 cm with a 260cm wheelbase and a maximum net power of 129kW.

These changes include a 1.5TD four-cylinder engine with 290Nm of torque, a robust inlet grille, red sports calipers, Tomahawk style 18-inch shadow hub, energy matrix LED headlamps, individual daytime running lights, Through LED tail lamps, suspended integrated double screen, 10.25-inch digital dashboard, Apple Carplay, Automatic Parking Assist, Front induction wiper, Rear air outlet, wireless charging, and a 540 degree HD panoramic system with intelligent 4-way HD DVR. It comes in an eye-catching purple prism, blur grey, bolt white, fireblast red, or voltaic teal.

Similarly, the Emgrand gained visual changes in both the interiors and the exterior, bringing it up to spec for the new model year.

The main attraction of the announcement is the introduction of what the brand claims is its future, the new EX5 all-electric SUV. As soon as we saw it in person, we were floored by the massive leap in design, fit, and finish of the car. It is leagues above the build quality of the other cars from Geely's current line.

We hope this high level of manufacturing follows through to the next generation of cars. The EX5 is sleek with its aerodynamic profile with a drag coefficient of 0.269. It measures 461.5 x 190.1 x 167 cm and has a wheelbase of 275 cm.

Inside is a 160kW 215 hp electric motor with 320Nm of torque which enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100km/hr in 6.9 seconds. Powering the motor is the 60.22 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that is rated for up to 430km of range. It is capable of fast charging from 30 to 80 percent in 20 minutes using the 100kW DC fast charger. It also supports vehicle-to-load which means it can power external devices too.

It features a 15.4-inch central control screen with a 10.2-inch instrument panel that is both running on the Flyme Auto Operating System.

The OS offers advanced features like app connectivity, streaming services, and a multilingual voice assistant. It will also receive over-the-air updates to ensure the vehicle can evolve with new software and features after purchase.

Interested customers can pre-order until February 28 with a PHP 10,000 which will earn them a PHP 40,000 discount on the new Emgrand and a PHP 70,000 discount on the new Coolray.

The brand is also taking pre-orders for the new EX5 which will run from February 12 until March 31, 2025, and will earn them a huge PHP 110,000 extra discount. However, there is no SRP for the EX5 as of this article's writing.

Users can also refer and earn where both parties can receive a PHP 2,000 maintenance voucher when a current customer introduces a new customer to the brand. An additional PHP 2,000 maintenance voucher is added when the new customer makes a downpayment.
