Xiaomi 15 Ultra launched: 200MP LEICA periscope, Snapdragon 8 Elite, and 8K video recording

After numerous teasers, the brand finally introduced the Xiaomi 15 Ultra as its top-end contender for 2025.

The proper flagship camera phone?

As promised, the new device boasts Quad LEICA-powered cameras. It features 50MP 1-inch ultra large main sensor with 14EV native dynamic range, f/1.63, 8P lens  + 50MP 115-degree ultra-wide angle Samsung JN5 sensor with 5cm macro + 50MP Sony IMX858 3x telephoto camera + 200MP 1/1.4-inch Samsung HP9 sensor with 4.3x periscope, and 6P lens.

The features

The phone includes Android's first ACES LOG movie-level video, movie camera-level color, a UIS Xiaomi-developed video anti-shake system, horizon-level correction, and 8K video support. Xiaomi stated that it has a Leica ultra-pure optical system with innovative materials, technology, and procedures.

At the back it also boasts 4 colorways such as White, Black, and two-tone Silver-Black or Silver Green for that classic camera vibe. Additionally, it has an  IP68 dust and water resistance rating.

In front, the phone uses a 6.73-inch OLED screen with 3100 x 1440 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 12-bit colors, 3200 peak brightness, 1920Hz PWM dimming and Xiaomi Ceramic Glass protection 2.0. For its centered notch, you'll find the 32MP OV32B40 sensor with 4K 60 fps recording.

Inside, Xiaomi 15 Ultra is powered by the 4.32GHz 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with Adreno GPU, 12GB/16GB LPDDR5X RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB UFS 4.1. storage, 6,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging + 80W reverse wireless charging.

Other features noted are stereo speakers, a 4-microphone array, Dolby Atmos sound, Hi-Res audio certification.

Connectivity-wise, it has 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, NFC, Satellite communication and dual SIM.

For OS, the phone runs Android 15 with Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 out of the box.

It is currently available for pre-order in China while the sale begins on March 3, 2025. It is set for a global release on March 2. There's no word yet if there will be a PH launch. But then again, Xiaomi hasn't brought its Ultra device in 3 generations already.
