HUAWEI Pura X announced: 6.3-inch 16:10 foldable, 3.5-inch cover screen, 50MP RYYB camera

After the teasers, HUAWEI finally revealed a Pura clamshell foldable but with an interesting take on the display.

It looks like an iPad mini

HUAWEI thought differently in the screen department as unlike traditional flips with a tall aspect ratio, this one has a 16:10 aspect ratio, so despite just having a 6.3-inch main OLED panel this still looks like a compact tablet. This is one reason why the brand has compared its looks to an iPad mini.

Anyway, the primary screen has a resolution of 2120 x 130, LTPO 2.0 1-120Hz refresh rate 300Hz touch sampling rate.

On the other hand, the cover display uses a 3.5-inch OLED panel with 980 x 980 resolution, 1440Hz PWM dimming, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 1-120Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile, HUAWEI did not specify what processor it uses, but reports point out that it may have a Kirin 9020 chip with Maleoon 920.

The Pura X sports 12GB/16GB RAM, and 256GB/512GB/1TB storage configurations, and is powered by a silicon carbon 4,720mAh battery with 66W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging.

In the camera department, it uses a 50MP f/1.6 RYYB main shooter with OIS, 40MP f/2.2 RYYB ultra-wide snapper with macro, and 8MP f/2.4 telephoto with 3.5x optical and OIS. Furthermore, there's also a spectral image sensor like the one found on the Mate 70 Pro Series.

For selfies, you can shoot with its 10.7MP front camera.

Other features mentioned are stereo speakers with HUAWEI Histen Sound, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a graphite plate for cooling.

Connectivity-wise, HUAWEI did not mention 5G data, but it has 4G LTE, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.2 with BLE support, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, GALILEO, QZSS, NavIC and NFC.

For OS, the phone runs HarmonyOS 5.0.

It is currently available only in China. There's no word yet if it will launch globally at the moment.
