Every vote counts!
Today is the last day of the local absentee voting for this year's elections. During this period, absentee voters—including government employees, members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and media practitioners—can already cast their votes for national posts (senators, party-list representatives).
This election's local absentee voting is automated, a first in history. According to the Commission on Elections, the ballots will be sealed in an envelope and then opened on election day (May 12) so they can be fed into the machine.
If you are eligible for LAV, here's what you need to do:
- Know your voting schedule and location.
- At the voting center, have your identity verified by authorities.
- Fill out your ballot by shading the circles corresponding to your chosen candidates. Make sure you accurately shade to not waste your votes!
- Submit your ballot.
As mentioned, the ballots will be kept in envelopes. These will be sealed the opened on election day itself, meaning you will not be able to receive receipts from the counting machines.
Today's LAV runs until 5 PM PHT.
Remember, your vote counts. Vote wisely!
