Build/Design - This hybrid gaming + camera flagship is built to last, featuring POCO Shield Glass—the brand's toughest protection yet for superior scratch and drop resistance. It also carries an IP68 rating, surviving underwater submersion up to 2.5 meters for 30 minutes.
 |
The POCO F7 Ultra design |
In terms of design, it boasts sleek and premium with quad-curved glass, an aluminum frame, and a standout circular camera hump accented by a red-orange ring—resembling the Sharingan eye from anime "Naruto". It measures 160.26 x 74.95 mm, just 8.39 mm thin, and 212 grams. It balances a sturdy build with a refined look.
 |
The ROG Phone 9 FE design |
Constructed for durability, the ROG Phone 9 FE combines a metal frame with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 at the front, offering enhanced protection against impacts. Its 8.9mm thickness and 225-gram weight also reflect its robust build.
On the design front, the rear panel employs a crystallized-nano texture for a dual matte/glossy finish, complemented by the customizable AniMe Mini LED array (341 LEDs) for dynamic gamer-themed lighting.
Additionally, it has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, which is capable of surviving water dips or sand, just like the phone above

The display of the POCO F7 Ultra |
Display - The POCO F7 Ultra uses a slightly smaller screen and refresh rate at 120Hz, 6.67-inch, but comes with better resolution with its 2K 3200 x 1440 panel. It also provides more colors at 12-bit and has high PWM dimming at 3840Hz, making it safer at longer periods of usage.
 |
The ROG Phone 9 FE display |
On the other hand, the ROG Phone 9 FE offers a bit bigger display at 6.78 inches and uses a Samsung E6 LTPO AMOLED. It provides a higher 1-165Hz refresh rate, making it suitable for FPS games, although it is still capped at FHD+ 2400 x 1080.
Specs - The POCO F7 Pro offers the current flagship 4.32GHz 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with Adreno GPU and has 12GB/16GB LPDDR5X and 256GB/512GB UFS 4.1 storage options. Both of these are at an affordable or nearly similar price point to the FE.
In addition, it comes with a 12nm VisionBoost D7 chip to force 120 fps at 2K resolution on supported games.
The ROG Phone 9 FE is equipped with 3.3GHz 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is a year late over the SD 8 Elite, but still packs a punch for a gaming device. It is paired with a generous single 16 GB of large RAM, but is only available at 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. Still, this should provide adequate space for your apps or files, but POCO's larger 512GB offer will be at an advantage in the future.
Moving to the battery, the POCO F7 Ultra has slightly lower 5,300mAh but charges faster at 120W and supports 50W wireless charging. Meanwhile, the ROG Phone 9 FE has a bigger 5,500mAh battery but uses USB-C 65W only and 15W wireless charging support.

POCO F7 Ultra and ROG Phone 9 FE cameras |
Cameras - The POCO F7 Ultra uses a 50MP f/1.6 Light Fusion 800 w/ OIS + 32MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra-wide camera + 50MP f/2.0 2.5x telephoto w/ OIS + dual LED flash.
The ASUS uses a 50MP Sony IMX890 with 6-axis gimbal stabilization + 13MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra-wide + 5MP macro + LED flash.
On paper, POCO's camera should provide brighter and higher-quality images, both on the main camera, ultra-wide, and even on zoom, thanks to the optical 2.5x telephoto sensor. It also has a higher digital zoom of up to 60x.
The ROG Phone provides a decent image sensor with good stabilization thanks to the 6-Axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 3.0, which should let the phone get more stable photos or videos, and better output in low light. However, you'll get lesser image quality with the ultra-wide and still use a macro instead of a portrait sensor in 2025. Anyway, the main camera still has up to 2x lossless zoom, which should be usable for your daily portraits.
Other features - The POCO F7 Ultra features a faster ultra-sonic In-Display fingerprint reader, face unlock, IR Blaster, stereo speakers for immersive audio, and LiquidCool Technology 4.0 with 3D Dual-channel IceLoop System, X-axis linear vibration motor.
On the other hand, the ROG Phone 9 FE has a slightly slower yet still effective In-Display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers for entertainment, and air triggers for additional gaming assistance, ideal for combat and FPS games.
It also has "GameCool," which provides a 360-degree cooling effect to the phone by using advanced thermal materials such as double graphite sheet, rapid cooling conductor, Boron Nitride, and Vapor Chamber.
Furthermore, it has access to the optional AeroActive Cooler X Pro for even better thermal management.
In terms of connectivity, POCO uses WiFi 7 (2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz), 5G, 4G LTE, higher Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, GPS (L1+L5), and dual SIM.
Meanwhile, the ROG Phone also uses WiFi 7 (2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz), 5G, 4G LTE, but slightly differs in Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS, and dual SIM.
OS - The POCO F7 Ultra runs on Android 15 with Xiaomi's HyperOS 2 skin. The brand managed to bring a cleaner aesthetic along with rich features, built-in AI tasks such as Speech Recognition, Interpret, and searching.
The ROG Phone 9 FE also runs on Android 15 with ROG UI. It also offers serious AI gaming enhancements such as X Sense 3.0 for real-time event detection, Grabber 2.0 for on-screen text extraction, and X Capture 2.0 for automatic gameplay recording.
POCO F7 Ultra - Sleek, lightweight, tough build, Brighter, more colorful, and richer display, VisionBoost D7 chip, faster flagship SoC, better cameras, faster charging wired and wireless.
ROG Phone 9 FE - AniMe LED lights, faster LTPO refresh rate, higher battery, 6-axis stabilization, Better cooling, Gaming-focused AI features
Our thoughts
On paper, the POCO F7 Ultra stands out with its superior display resolution, faster flagship chipset, and versatile camera system with a telephoto lens, making it a more all-around performer.
It is suitable for multimedia, gaming, and photography by paying a slightly higher price tag at PHP 39,999 for the 512GB option, or it can be cheaper for the 256GB edition at PHP 36,999.
Priced at PHP 39,995, the ROG Phone 9 FE counters with gaming-specific advantages like its higher refresh rate display, physical AirTriggers, AI gaming features, and unique AniMe LED customization, though it uses a slightly older processor.
Both phones offer premium build quality with IP68 protection and high-quality materials, leaving the choice dependent on whether camera/display quality or gaming features take priority for the user.
