DxOMark: OPPO Find X8 Ultra's cameras crush everyone else, scoring 169 points

Someone finally dethroned the HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra at DxOMark's smartphone camera ranking. The camera testing lab said that the new top camera phone is the OPPO Find X8 Ultra.

OPPO's top camera phone achieved a monster Photo score of 170 points and a top-rated Video score of 166 points for an Overall Camera Score of 169 points. 


The handset also achieved top scores in several use cases like Portrait (159 points), Lowlight (146 points), and Zoom (151 points).

The OPPO Find X8 Ultra bested the other phones in the top 5, which includes long-time leader HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra, Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

The closest competitors are the HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra with 163 Overall Camera Score and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max with 161 Overall Camera Score.

A margin of 6 points is normally HUGE in the DxOMark camera ranking.

The breakdown of the rating: 

  • Photo - 170 (Top score)
  • Video - 166 (Top score)
  • Portrait - 159 (Top score)
  • Zoom - 151 (Top score)
  • Low light 146 (Top score)

According to DxOMark, the handset has an outstanding Photo Portrait mode with precise subject separation and realistic Bokeh effect. It also has accurate exposure and effective HDR, natural and vibrant color rendering even under challenging conditions, has a high level of detail retention, reliable autofocus, and outstanding zoom.

Very few of its cons include occasional color instabilities and some image artifacts in challenging scenarios like moving motion.

To recap, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra boasts a Hasselblad branded 50MP f/1.8 main camera with 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor and OIS, a 50MP f/2.0 120-degree ultra-wide angle camera with a Samsung JN5 sensor, a 50MP f/2.1 3x telephoto Periscope camera with a 1/1.56-inch Sony LYT700 sensor and OIS, and a 50MP f/3.1 6x telephoto Periscope camera with a Sony LYT600 sensor and OIS, and an LED flash.

For selfies, it is packed with a 32MP f/2.4 selfie camera with a Sony IMX809 sensor. It uses the new LUMO imaging system.

The device is China exclusive.

In the Philippines, OPPO has the regular Find X8, which starts at PHP 55K.
