The new iPad Air competitor?
The tablet features an all-metal body, a sleek form factor measuring just 5.9mm in thickness and weighing 555 grams.
It boasts a 12-inch LCD (IPS) PaperMatte screen with 2.8K 2800 x 1840 resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 87 percent screen-to-body ratio, and 1000 nits peak brightness.

Inside, it uses an unspecified Kirin chip and is paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
HUAWEI also added an advanced 3D heat dissipation comprising PCBA-level 3D dispensing process, thermal-conductivity graphite 3D custom vapor chamber to maintain temperatures during intensive workloads.
The tablet also has a large 10,100mAh battery with USB-C HUAWEI SuperCharge support.
For cameras, the MatePad 12 X uses a 50MP f/1.8 rear shooter with AF and an 8MP f/2.2 sensor for selfies or video calls.
The device also features a 6-speaker setup and is compatible with the HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M-Pencil Pro.
Connectivity features are WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2 with BLE, AAC, and LDAC support.
On the software side, the tablet runs on HarmonyOS 4.3 out of the box.
