Smaller, lighter, better
Launched in April 2024, the original Insta360 X4 featured dual cameras with a 1/2-inch sensor in a 203-gram 15-meter waterproof body.
Now in October 2025, Insta360 launched the new X4 Air that weighs 19 percent lighter at 165 grams while carrying a larger dual 1/1.8-inch sensor while retaining the 15-meter waterproof capability.
To get into the specifics, the X4 Air comes with a dual 1/1.8-inch f/1.95 CMOS sensor with a 6.4mm focal length. A single lens offers up to 170 degrees of field of view, and using both cameras gives the 360-degree footage.
It records up to 8K at 30fps and up to 6K at 50fps and captures up to 29MP photos that are saved to the internal UHS-I microSD slot. It connects wirelessly via WiFi and Bluetooth 5.2 and connects wired via USB-C 3.0.
Powering the camera is the 2,010mAh user-removable battery that is rated for up to 88 minutes of continuous 8K at 30fps recording. It is advertised to fully charge from 0 to 100 percent in 57 minutes.
It has a touch screen on one side and features a 6-axis gyroscope.
At the bottom is the 1/4-inch screw mount with Quick Release.
Lastly, it comes in either Graphite Black or Arctic White.
