A new category for a new generation?

Announced globally in October 2025, the new M EV1 features a full metal housing made of magnesium and aluminum with a diamond-pattern leatherette cover.  It measures 139 x 80 x 38mm and weighs 495 grams with the battery. It is not weather-sealed and has no IP rating.

At the camera's core are the Leica M bayonet mount with 6-bit encoding sensors, a 60MP BSI CMOS Triple-resolution full-frame sensor, and a Maestro III processor. At the back are the 5.76MP OLED EVF with a 60Hz refresh rate, a 0.76x magnification, and -4 to +2 diopter, a 3-inch 2.36M-dot fixed LCD touch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

The camera stores captured images to its 64GB internal memory and/or the single UHS-II card slot.

At the bottom of the camera is the pop-out 1,800mAh Li-ion battery. Inside the battery slot is the UHS-II card slot. The battery is CIPA rated for 237 shots per charge with live view via the EVF. Beside the battery slot is the USB-C port that supports charging and file transfers.

It also comes with Leica's Content Credentials, which embeds tamper-proof and verifiable metadata using hashes and signatures akin to those used in online banking.

The camera connects wirelessly through Bluetooth and WiFi and is integrated with the Leica FOTOS app. (downloadable via the Apple App Store).
