Improved gaming on a budget?

The new chipset is designed to enhance performance, connectivity, and camera capabilities in entry-level to mid-range Android devices.

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is the first in the 6-series to be manufactured on a 4nm process node, a technology more commonly used in higher-tier chips.

This transition is expected to improve power efficiency and processing speeds. Qualcomm reports that the new chip offers up to a 36 percent increase in CPU performance and a 59 percent improvement in GPU speed compared to previous 6nm-based models.

The chip features eight Kryo CPU cores, including four performance cores with speeds up to 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores running at up to 1.8GHz. This configuration is intended to support smoother multitasking, faster app loading, and more responsive gaming.

Additionally, it also supports FHD+ displays with refresh rates of up to 144Hz, which can contribute to smoother visuals during scrolling and gameplay.

Among the highlights are Snapdragon Elite Gaming features such as Variable Rate Shading and Game Quick Touch, aimed at reducing input lag and improving rendering efficiency.

For imaging, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 supports camera sensors of up to 200MP and 2K video recording.

Furthermore, the chip incorporates Multi-Frame Noise Reduction technology at the hardware level, which is designed to produce clearer images in low-light conditions. Connectivity features include 5G Release 16 support, Wi-Fi 6E with potential speeds up to 2.9Gbps, and Bluetooth 5.4.

Qualcomm has not yet announced which device manufacturers will adopt the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4.

Meanwhile, brands such as Xiaomi, OPPO, and Motorola are anticipated to integrate the chipset into upcoming smartphone models.
