Priced from PHP 17,599, this sleek device combines a premium metal build with a massive 12.1-inch 120Hz display for smooth visuals.

Under the hood, it’s powered by the efficient 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, paired with UFS 2.2 storage and LPDDR4X RAM for responsive performance.

Moreover, it comes with an enormous 12,000mAh battery supported by 33W fast charging via USB-C, designed for all-day endurance.

In this review, we share our hands-on experience to see if the REDMI Pad 2 Pro truly delivers on its promise of power, style, and value despite its hefty over 600 grams of weight.

Could this be the affordable yet capable tablet for you?

Let's dive in.

Build Quality/Design

Out of the box, the Pad 2 Pro is a slate made of a metal frame and a glass front panel.

At the back are the rear camera module, the bold REDMI branding, and regulatory information.

It comes with rounded corners and symmetrical bezels. It is thick enough to leave ample space for your fingers when holding the tablet.

The tablet is 279.8 x 181.65 x 7.5mm and weighs 610 grams. It is one of the heaviest 12-inch tablets in the market.

On top of the tablet is the volume rocker, two microphone ports, and the SIM tray, while at the bottom is a smooth surface.

On the left side are the first pair of speaker grills and the power button, while on the right side are the second pair of speaker grills, USB-C port, and 3.5mm audio jack.

For some reason, the USB-C port and the 3.5mm audio jack are not centered.

Both the power button and volume rocker are made of metal, and they both have a click-y and plastic-y feel and sound when pressed.

Multimedia Experience

Redmi Pad 2 Pro's display
REDMI Pad 2 Pro's display

The REDMI Pad 2 Pro's a 12-inch Crystal-Clear display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, a 600-nit brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. The panel supports 1.07 billion colors and Dolby Vision.

The brand claims that its wet touch allows the touch screen to respond and work normally when there is moisture or humidity on the user's fingers.

The panel is TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certified, is TÜV Rheinland Flicker Free Certified, and is TÜV Rheinland Circadian Friendly Certified.

It is decently bright but may be hard to read when under direct sunlight. The glass panel is also very reflective.

The 2560 x 1600 resolution results in sharp images and crisp text, while the 360Hz touch sampling rate is just right for multi-touch and pencil use. The 120Hz refresh rate makes the animation look smoother, too.

For audio, it has four speakers that support Dolby Atmos. At 100 percent, the speakers are loud enough to fill a room. REDMI allows it to be boosted up to 300 percent, but at the cost of introducing distortion.

Cameras

At the back is the 8MP f/2.0 main camera with a 1/4-inch sensor and an LED flash. The stock camera app for the rear camera includes modes such as AI CAM, Beauty, Video, Time-lapse, Portrait, and Panorama.

The Pro Mode allows for controls of Shutter Speed (1/30-1/4000), ISO (50-3200), White Balance, AF, and EV (+-4.0).

Both the front-facing and rear cameras can record up to 1080 at 30fps video. This is more than decent enough for video-calling or Zoom experiences that you can use for online meetings and more for the price.

Performance

The REDMI Pad 2 Pro features a 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 octa-core processor, 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB/256GB UFS 2.2 storage. It can be expanded via a microSD card up to 2TB.

REDMI Pad 2 Pro benchmark results:

  • GeekBench - 1,244 single core, 3,307 multi-core
  • GeekBench AI - 1,049 single precision, 916 high-precision, 1,773 quantized score
  • CPDT - 488.71 MB/s sequential write speeds, 739.19 sequential read speeds
  • PCMark - 21 hours

Benchmark scores from GeekBench, GeekBench AI, and CPDT are good but not necessarily the best.

In actual usage, the REDMI Pad 2 Pro performs snappily. It responds to taps, swipes, and interactions instantaneously. Most apps open quickly, but the bigger and heavier apps may take a little longer.
Redmi Pad 2 Pro Genshin Impact
REDMI Pad 2 Pro Genshin Impact

For gaming, it can handle Genshin Impact at the medium graphics settings. Frame rate-wise, it is playable at 30fps at up to a certain point. When the screen is filled with animations and moving characters, there are instances of stuttering.

The tablet is surprisingly well-cooled; it never got hot. It maintains a relatively cool temperature even after an hour of playing both Genshin Impact.

In terms of battery, the 12,000mAh battery underwent our usual PCMark Battery benchmark twice, and it yielded around 21 hours. In real-world usage, we achieved approximately 12 to 15 hours of on-screen time.

It has a 33W fast charger that charges the tablet from 0 to 100 percent in 3 hours.

Connectivity features include WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. When in relative proximity to a WiFi router or mesh node, the WiFi bars maintain 4 to 5 bars. It loses signal strength when more than 10 feet away or when there are thick obstacles.

The Bluetooth 5.4 also allows simultaneous connections between multiple devices, such as a Bluetooth keyboard and wireless earphones.
Redmi Pad 2 Pro's Multi-tasking
REDMI Pad 2 Pro's Multi-tasking

In terms of OS, it runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 2 on Android 15. It isn't the latest and greatest from Google, but it features more than enough new features and visual changes for most people.

However, if you never liked previous versions of Xiaomi's OS, this will not change your mind.

One of our favorite features is the multiwindow support, given that the massive diagonal real estate the large 12.1-inch display offers.

Pros - Metal and Glass build materials, 7.5mm thin, high resolution & high refresh rate screen, massive 12,000mAh battery, Dolby Atmos Quad Speakers
Cons -  3 hours of charging time, heavy at 610 grams

Verdict

Redmi Pad 2 Pro web surfing
REDMI Pad 2 Pro web surfing

The REDMI Pad 2 Pro at its price point deserves your consideration because of its crisp 12.1-inch 120Hz 2.5K display, its Dolby Atmos-certified quad-speakers, and its slim metal and glass design.

Even though the tablet is heavy at 610 grams, it is built well and offers good performance, including gaming and battery life.

With a 12,000mAh battery, it effectively lasts for two days. Even though it takes 3 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent, you can just top off in the evening to speed up charging time.

The 8MP rear and front-facing cameras are no slouch either. They take decent images for an affordable mid-range tablet.

Ultimately, the REDMI Pad 2 Pro is a content consumption powerhouse because of its crisp 2.5K 12.1-inch screen and its 12,000mAh battery. It may take 3 hours to fully charge the tablet, but the battery endurance will allow users to consume content longer than most tablets in the market.
