Xiaomi 17 Ultra confirmed to launch next week

Xiaomi releases official event poster of its upcoming camera-focused flagship known as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

The brand's CEO, Lei Jun, confirmed the unveiling for next week in China. The company also announced a deepened "strategic co-creation" model with LEICA, involving collaboration from the earliest design stages. 

A key introduction is a new optical system featuring what Xiaomi calls the industry's first LEICA APO-certified telephoto lens for mobile devices, aimed at improving color accuracy and reducing aberrations.

According to reports, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature a flat display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and a large battery close to 7,000mAh. It is expected to support 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, ultrasonic fingerprint authentication, and IP68 resistance.

The rear camera system is rumored to shift to a triple setup, including a primary 50MP  OV50X 1-inch sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera w/ macro, and a 200MP periscope 5x telephoto lens.

Blind pre-orders for the device have reportedly started in China, with a global launch anticipated in March alongside the standard Xiaomi 17. A new NAS product may also be introduced at the event.
