Two new SoCs from MediaTek

First is the new Dimensity 8500 that is designed for premium mid-range devices and is built on the 4nm process. It employs the 'all big core' approach, where eight Cortex-A725 cores are clocked at 3.4 GHz. The Dimenisty 8500 supports LPDDR5X RAM at up to 9600Mbps and ray tracing.

It is advertised to offer 25 percent better graphics performance while offering 20 percent less power consumption when compared to the previous generation. Because of its 8th-generation NPU, it also supports popular language models for tasks like smart photo enhancements and content creation. It also optimizes images for better clarity, especially in zoomed shots, and ensures efficient handling of apps and notifications.

While the new 3nm-based Dimensity 9500s is aimed at flagship smartphones. It also uses the 'all-big-core' design with one ultra-fast 3.73GHz Cortex-X925 core, three premium Cortex X4 cores, and four performance Cortex-A720 cores. Alongside is the high-end Immortalis-G925 GPU that works with Adaptive gaming technologies such as MAGT 3.0 and MFRC 3.0, which supposedly boost energy efficiency and extend battery life.

Inside is the flagship NPU optimized for generative AI tasks, multi-modal models, AI photo editing, and content summarization. It has a dedicated unit for handling smart tasks such as summarizing calls or meetings, editing images, and generating content.

Its Advanced Imagiq image processor enables real-time 30fps motion tracking, 8K Dolby Vision HDR video, plus enhanced snapshot and noise reduction for superior camera performance.

It also supports 5G connectivity at up to 7Gbps downlink speeds while offering power saving features and improved weak-signal handling, extended WiFi range, and long-range Bluetooth.

These two processors are expected to appear in upcoming smartphones from brands such as OnePlus, Xiaomi, and others known for value-packed devices.
