Powerful but is it enough?

According to Ayaneo, its upcoming Pocket Play smartphone will feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset.

The said chip sports an all big-core design, up to 3.25GHz max boost clock and Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU with ray tracing support.

To recap, the device includes a slide-out controller section reminiscent of older gaming phones. It also has sleek and clean aesthetics with colorful display up front.

The choice of chipset is notable, as the Dimensity 9300 was released in 2023. While it was MediaTek's flagship processor at that time, its adoption now places it over two years old at the device's unveiling. The company has not explained why a newer chipset, such as the Dimensity 9500, or even Dimensity 9400+ was not selected.

Theoretically speaking, it should provide decent performance for existing native Android gaming titles, while you may have to tweak some settings on latest emulators like Gamehub (PC), Eden (Switch), RPCSX (PS3) to achieve desired performance.

According to details shared in December, the slide-out controller includes a D-pad, ABXY buttons, and dual touchpads that can act as joysticks. The device also features L1, L2, R1, and R2 shoulder buttons, dual rear cameras, stereo speakers, and a USB-C port.

It will be available in black and white color options, though a release date has not yet been confirmed.

What do you guys think?
