realme 16 5G announced: Air design, back selfie mirror, 7,000mAh battery, 8.10mm thin body

In Vietnam, the realme 16 5G was officially introduced as the brand's newest style-focused mid-ranger with a massive battery capacity.

The first realme with "Air" design

The handset debuts the company's own interpretation of the "Air" design that is clearly inspired by the camera-island of the iPhone Air.

What's different is that it has more sensors on the hump and a cleverly placed selfie mirror—great for "Gen Z selfies" using the 50MP f/1.8 back camera of the phone with Laser AF paired with a 2MP f/2.4 monochrome sensor for Portraits.

This also has a solid IP66/68/69/69K dust and water resistance rating.

In front, the handset uses a 6.57-inch DT Star D+ protected Flexible AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 2372 x 1080 resolution at 397 ppi. One of the highlights is that it has an ultra-bright 4,200 nits peak brightness for improved sunlight legibility.

The handset also has the 2.4GHz 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo octa-core processor, up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM, 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage, and a large 7,000mAh battery with USB-C 60W SUPERVOOC charging.

Keeping the handset cool is an  Airflow VC 6050mm² solution.

The handset runs on realme UI 7.0 skin based on Android 16 OS with plenty of AI innovations and solutions.

On paper, this is a generally intriguing mid-ranger. But if you are living in the Philippines, we highly suggest checking out the previous-generation realme 15 5G (PHP 23,999 SRP) as it has a larger and more capable display, a stronger processor, faster charging, and a seemingly more versatile camera system.
