We recently tried one of Lenovo's powerful mid-range gaming laptops called the Legion 7i Gen 10.

Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 10 design

To recap, the laptop features minimalist Glacier White Design, a 16-inch 165Hz WQXGA OLED panel, an Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX processor, and an NVIDIA RTX 5060 GPU.

Unboxing/Accessories

The packaging includes a large brown box with interior styrofoam inserts to protect the unit during transit, preventing any damage. Also included are a substantial power adapter, a laptop sleeve, and the necessary paperwork.

Build Quality/Design

Sleek and clean aesthetics
Sleek and clean aesthetics

From a build quality perspective, the Legion 7i is immediately defined by its full sandblasted, aerospace-grade aluminum chassis. This material choice is the primary reason for its measured weight of under 2 kg and its slim 17.9 mm profile, marking a shift toward a more portable form factor compared to bulkier designs.

To be honest, despite its size and weight, it didn't actually feel heavy in our bag. This is coming from a user who constantly prefers a laptop under 1 kg for work on the go. So kudos to Lenovo for providing a great balance on this gaming laptop.

Evidently, the design follows a minimalist aesthetic. The clean exterior, available in "Glacier White," is punctuated only by a subtle silver engraving of the "Legion" branding on the lid. Functionally, the sturdy hinge mechanism allows for one-handed operation and can open to a full 180 degrees, laying the display completely flat.
The vents, HDMI, and charging placements

Ventilation is handled by intelligently positioned exhaust vents located at the rear and along the bottom edge. This placement directly allowed the necessary thermal dissipation for the laptop's high-performance components.

The port layout demonstrates a clean, user-oriented design, with connectivity distributed across three sides for organized cable management.
The ports of the left

On the left side, you find one USB-A port, two USB-C (Thunderbolt 4) ports, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack.

The right side houses an additional USB-A port, a physical camera shutter switch, and a full-size SD card reader.
Charging placement on the back

Discreetly positioned on the rear edge are the HDMI 2.1 port and the proprietary power charging port.

For us, this placement on the back of the power adapter is a practical design choice, preventing it from interfering with peripherals connected to the side ports.

Opening the laptop will greet you with a 16-inch OLED screen and a webcam at the top portion.

The keyboard follows a standard layout with numkeys and is centered by a large trackpad. The palm rest displays manufacturer branding, including Intel and NVIDIA stickers—the latter with an eSupport QR code.

Typing quality remains consistent with Lenovo's reputation, offering a responsive, tactile feel that balances speed and precision across both long typing sessions and quick spamming on games.

Multimedia Experience

The Lenovo Legion 7i features a 16-inch WQXGA OLED panel with 2560 x 1600 resolution, 165Hz VRR. It has a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut and is VESA Trueblack 1000 certified. It also has Dolby Vision, NVIDIA G-SYNC, TUV Rheinland, and X-Rite Certified.
Stunning and crisp OLED

Right from the moment we opened it, we were immediately stunned by its beautiful display. It has punchy colors, sharp details thanks to the 1.5K resolution, and it even has great viewing angles.

Its 165Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and viewing experience much smoother than a traditional 60Hz display, and it's less fatiguing as well.

For speakers, it has two drivers for a stereo effect with 2W sound output each. It is also tuned by Harman audio and supports Nahimic and Smart AMP.

To be honest, the sound quality is decent, provided you are in a small space. However, in a larger room, you would definitely notice the difference in volume. For us, the volume could be improved as they're not as loud as we hope them to be.

For typical RPG games their fine, but if you use them for competitive play, the not-so-loud volume could give you problems in pinpointing your enemy's location.

Thankfully, it has a 3.5mm jack, so we just slap our headset and move on.

Performance

Now let's get to the main event, as mentioned, the laptop uses an Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX processor. It has up to 1.8GHz to 5.2GHz, a total of 20 cores and 20 threads.

For graphics, it uses an NVIDIA RTX 5060 laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR7 VRAM.

The Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 10 also uses a 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB storage.

These pairs are meant to provide outstanding performance both as a work laptop and, more importantly, in gaming.
Geekbench score
Geekbench score

The laptop was able to achieve 1873 points for Geekbench's single-core score, while it pushes up to 14,079 for the multi-core score.
3D Mark score
3D Mark score

For 3D Mark, it was able to achieve 9793 Time Spy Score, 14,275 CPU score, and 9,279 for graphic score.

In real-life usage, these are superb numbers that are more than enough for our writing and editing work. Running multiple browser tabs (20-25) on a dual window mode, creative software, and switching between them are breeze.

We will attribute this to the Core Ultra 7 255HX and the massive and fast 32GB LPDDR5X  RAM.
Gaming session

When it comes to gaming, we ran Hogwarts Legacy at Ultra settings (native resolution), averaging between 85 and 98 FPS.

It dips to around 85 FPS during intense fight scenes, which is still well above average considering the visual quality on display.

We saw similar performance in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with the same graphical setup. Enabling DLSS would push those numbers even higher, but we preferred the balance of sharp native detail and consistently smooth frame rates.

On the thermal side, Lenovo’s ColdFront technology does an excellent job in those settings since we were able to have consistent frame rates in around 3 hours of gaming. You’ll notice some warmth if you place your fingers near the vents, but that's completely normal given the workload of running these games at max settings.

Buttery smooth in most tasks, great thermals

Overall, the gaming experience was buttery smooth—we never saw it drop below 60 FPS. Playing demanding titles at near-max settings with such high frame rates is a genuine treat, especially on a device that manages to keep such a sleek and professional appearance.

For a battery, a typical working task lasts us around 4-5 hours before hitting the wall. Meanwhile, performing heavy games will drop it down to 1.5 to 2 hours. Anyway, you don't really play games on battery. After all, doing it on wired provides better performance.

If you want to save battery, it's better to just run on iGPU settings for normal tasks.

Charging times will hit you at 50 percent by around 30 minutes, while it takes another hour to fully charge the 84WHr battery.

For the camera, the laptop features a 1080p 5MP webcam with a wide angle, which provides decent details under a good lighting environment. You have to find a good angle away from the lights to avoid unwanted glares. Anyway, this should be sufficient for online work or studies.

In terms of connectivity, it boasts WiFi 7, which is the current standard for wireless connectivity, and Bluetooth 5.4.

We were not fully able to maximize the speed of WiFi 7 as our home is still on WiFi 6. But our entire experience werent compromised. The download speeds on huge games took only an hour to finish, with our network providing 300-400Mbps and we are talking about 60 to 85GB of files.

For Bluetooth, well, our mouse, wireless earphones/gamepad ran perfectly fine without any drops when using for game or work. The latency is also barely noticeable, allowing us to perform the right combos when playing on the gamepad.

For OS, the laptop runs on Windows 11 Home. It also supports Copilot+ PC to enhance your productivity with AI.
Lenovo Vantage
Lenovo Vantage

There's also the Lenovo Vantage, a free utility software that serves as a command center for Legion laptops—handling driver updates, performance tuning, and security management all in one place.

What we appreciate is how it centralizes stuff that would otherwise be buried in Windows settings. So if you want to tweak your hardware, check battery health, run a quick diagnostic, it's all here.
Legion Space
Legion Space

Meanwhile, there's also a gaming space with identical features. You can view CPU/GPU/RAM usage, adjust fan levels between quiet, balanced, performance, or custom. You can also manage the RGB settings depending on your preference.

Pros - Balance of powerful performance and portability, good keyboard, RGBs, stunning display, sufficient cooling, feature-rich software
Cons - Speakers can be improved, battery drains fast

Verdict

Bright display of Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 10
Bright display of Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 10

The Lenovo Legion 7i delivers mostly what gamers need in today's market and could even be a good creator buddy at home

Its sleek engineering defies the typical very chunky gaming laptop while also offering a gorgeous and smooth display, very capable performance for both work and gaming, large RAM and storage, and AI productivity tools.

While the price of PHP 145,995 (less PHP 25K on the website) may raise some eyebrows, and the fact that you can build a better PC with it, you still can't slip a desktop into your bag and take it to a coffee shop or somewhere else.

We know this line has been used over again, but the fact that we were able to bring it inside the hotel and still game during our staycation is something that most gamers will always look forward to. After all, gamers play everywhere on whatever hardware they have.

Additionally, Lenovo is known for long-lasting products that will surely make your money worth it.

What do you guys think?
