Samsung Galaxy M17e launched: Dimensity 6300 chip, 6,000mAh battery, 6 years of updates

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy M17e 5G in India, expanding its budget-friendly 5G portfolio.

The Galaxy M17e design

Entry-level with long updates

The device measures 167 x 77 x 8.2mm and weighs 199g. It features a Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer back panel for durability, while it also carries an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.

In front, it is equipped with a 6.7-inch HD+ 1600 x 720 Infinity-U LCD display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Inside, it is powered by the 2.4GHz 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. 

It is available in 4GB/6GB variants, all with 128GB of internal storage. Storage expansion is supported via a microSD card up to 2TB using a hybrid dual SIM slot.

The features

The phone also houses a 6,000mAh battery with 25W USB-C fast charging support.

In terms of camera configuration, the rear setup includes a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, accompanied by an LED flash. For selfies, there is an 8MP front-facing camera.

Other features include a bottom ported speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Connectivity options include WiFi (2.4GHz/5GHz), 5G SA/NSA with support for 12 bands, dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, and dual SIM.

It runs on Android 16 with One UI 8 and incorporates Gemini Live features. Samsung has committed to providing six OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

It is currently available in India. No word yet if this will come to the Philippines.
