Beneficial ideas in the future?

TECNO, a technology brand focused on AI-driven innovation, presented a range of concept devices and technologies at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, offering a perspective on the potential evolution of smartphones and digital ecosystems.

The exhibition featured explorations into device form factors, user experience, and cultural expression, spanning modular designs to on-device generative AI previews. The presentations highlighted adaptive ecosystems intended to accommodate various usage scenarios, aligning with the exhibition's theme, "Pioneering the Connection of Intelligence." The concepts on display aim to address the relationship between technological capability and user-centered design.

Modular Magnetic Interconnection Technology

The integration of AI computing into mobile devices presents challenges related to physical space and expanding capabilities. TECNO’s Modular Magnetic Interconnection Technology proposes a method for hardware expansion via magnetic attachment. This system is designed to allow device form to adapt alongside technological developments.

A Customizable Modular Suite, including components such as battery modules, action cameras, and telephoto lenses, enables users to add or remove modules as needed. This approach allows selected functions to be managed externally, potentially reducing the need for all capabilities to be housed within the primary device.

Two design variations of the technology were shown at MWC. The ATOM edition is characterized by a structural foundation intended for efficient use. The MODA edition presents a different aesthetic described as geek-inspired.

POVA Ecosystem

The POVA Ecosystem is presented as an approach to extending a smartphone's core computing and communication functions to other devices. This interconnection aims to address diverse user needs across multiple scenarios.

Within this ecosystem, several products were introduced:

  • POVA Metal: Presented as the first full-metal unibody 5G phone, featuring a metal construction and a Snapdragon processor.
  • POVA Controller Slide: A controller designed for mobile gaming, with adjustable viewing angles intended to support both FPS and MOBA game genres, and wireless charging capability.
  • POVA Earphone: An earphone design incorporating dot-matrix light elements.

This concept technology focuses on on-device generative AI. Developed in partnership with Arm, it includes a Style Transfer Preview feature.

Algorithmic optimizations are applied to reduce screen flickering and jitter during real-time preview, achieving a 30fps split-screen viewfinder experience. The models are compressed to operate fully offline on smartphones.

Other concept devices on display included:

  • AI EINK: A device incorporating electronic ink technology. It uses AI recognition to analyze colors captured by the camera and match them on the back panel, with further personalization options available through a dedicated app.
  • TECNO Slim 2: A concept device featuring an ultra-thin body and a 0.7mm bezel.
  • POVA Neon: A smartphone concept utilizing ionized inert gas lighting technology.
  • Concept Design Suite: A collection of devices—including a laptop, tablet, earbuds, smartwatch, smart glasses, and power bank—with a design theme titled "Music in Motion," featuring vibrant forms and a modular design element.
  • TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold Concept: A tri-fold concept device with a 9.94-inch display that folds inward twice. The device measures 11.49mm when folded and 3.49mm when unfolded. The hinge incorporates 2,000 MPa ultra-high-strength steel, and the back cover uses Titan Fiber with a thickness of 0.3mm.

The concept devices and technologies are on view at the TECNO Booth (Stand 7A40, Hall 7) during MWC 2026, taking place in Barcelona, Spain, from March 2 to 5.
