To recap, the new TECNO MEGABOOK K15s features a 15.6-inch LCD screen with WUXGA resolution, up to an Intel Core i9-13900HK chip, 16GB/512GB memory, and a 70WHr battery.

On paper, this is a very competitive laptop for students and young professionals for just PHP 44,999, but will it deliver?

Let's unbox the laptop first.

Build Quality/Design

The MEGABOOK K15s follows the familiar all-metal playbook of modern work laptops, arriving in a clean Silver colorway that immediately radiates professional vibes.

At first glance, it could pass for a MacBook or a HUAWEI MateBook, and that's not a bad thing.

It's the kind of machine you can pull out in a coffee shop, co-working space, or lecture hall without a second thought. Its neutral colorway will simply blend anywhere you go.

Slim, sleek, and modern appearance

Speaking of slim appearance, the device measures just 17.5mm thick and weighs 1.65kg. This combination is tolerable enough for your daily commute and work on the go.

Build quality holds up well in real-world use. After extended daily use, pulling it in and out of bags and bringing it to event coverage, both the chassis and innards show no scratches or dents whatsoever.

The top cover shows the TECNO logo in silver engraving and a plain Matte lid.

On the left side, you'd find the Kensington lock, 2x USB-C cable, 1x USB-A port, and 3.5mm audio cable.

On the right side, there's an Ethernet port, USB-A, and a MicroSD card slot.

With these set up, you won't need an extra port hub.

Meanwhile, the laptop is designed for one-handed opening. Meaning you don't need to exert much effort when you want to use the computer right away.

Multimedia Experience

As mentioned above, the display is a 15.6-inch LCD panel with WUXGA  1920 x 1200 resolution and a standard 60Hz refresh rate.

The display

In our experience, the picture quality and colors are decent for daily work tasks and some multimedia streaming, but may not be good enough for professionals requiring color grading.

Large, decent display

Still, it's wide and good enough for our tech media job and minimal photo editing task, making it suitable for a split-screen view.

For audio, the device boasts quad speakers with DTS Immersive Sound Effect. It comprises two stereo 4013 speakers on top and bottom, rated at 2.5W.

It delivers surprisingly loud audio with a sweet spot at 70 to 80 percent volume for decent sound quality with good bass, mid, and highs. Going higher will certainly be louder, but you will notice hisses at the high frequencies.

Performance

Inside the MEGABOOK K15s is the 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900HK processor. This chip comprises 14 cores with a maximum boost clock of 5.4 GHz. It has a TDP of 35W and reaches up to 45W at peak performance.

Furthermore, the processor is paired with an Intel Iris Xe GPU with 96 Execution Units clocked at 1.5GHz. Additionally, it also has expandable 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.

Benchmark results

  • Geekbench 6 CPU - 2403 points (Single-core), 9710 (Multi-core)
  • Geekbench 6 GPU - 14,155 points (OpenCL)
  • 3DMark - 1,179 points overall, 8.74 fps graphics test
  • Cinebench 2024 - 99 points (single-core), 535 points multi-core

Experience-wise, the Intel Core i9-13900HK is more than capable for everyday tasks. Writing, photo editing, music playback, and video streaming all run without complaint, and juggling multiple browser tabs or switching between apps is never an issue.

In terms of gaming, it can do casual, but don't expect much from its integrated graphics.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt settings
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt settings

We tried here the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at 1080p + low preset with XESS. We got a playable 30 fps at the expense of pixelated visuals. We think that's the limit, even for a decade-old Triple A game; going above that would be too much for the iGPU.
Undisputed Boxing Game settings and fps
Undisputed Boxing Game settings and fps

In the Undisputed Boxing game, the title ran at 31-36 fps using the lowest graphical settings and at 720p resolution. Again, it's a playable frame rate and should just be enough to pass the time. Longer and more intense gaming isn't recommended.

In terms of battery, TECNO rated it with up to 17 hours of use in a controlled lab test. In our experience, it was around 8 to 10 hours before we hit 20 percent. That is still decent for working on the go, though you may want to reduce the screen brightness to last longer.

Charging time for the first 70 percent of juice is decent, with just an hour of waiting. However, it can take longer to fill it up after an hour of waiting. That's a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Since the device has GaN technology, it can also be utilized for charging your phone, so you don't need to bring extra chargers, and it may add weight to your bag.

For its webcam, it relies on a basic 1MP sensor suited for video calls. The output is grainy even under good lighting, but it’s serviceable enough for everyday conferencing.

We also liked that it has a privacy shutter. The sliding toggle is not that visible, which may confuse you at first, but once it's turned off, you'll be able to use the camera. This is particularly useful to prevent unauthorized usage of your camera against hackers, making users safe from digital attacks.

Connectivity-wise, it has a WiFi (2.4GHz/5GHz) and Bluetooth. The WiFi has stable signals able to reach the 2nd floor of our apartment, even though the router is placed on the 1st floor.

Meanwhile, its Bluetooth has no connection drops from our wireless speaker. It's somehow also in sync with almost no delay when playing video.

For OS, the laptop runs on Windows 11 Home. It comes with a free Microsoft 365 and WPS for your office-related tasks.
TECNO PC Manager
TECNO PC Manager

There's also a TECNO PC Manager to optimize the performance of your MEGABOOK K15s, manage DTS sounds for different scenarios, set up microphone effects for video calls, interconnectivity with TECNO devices, tips, and a PC cloner.

Pros: Decent build, Slim and lightweight laptop, high-speed processor, big memory, large battery, good and loud speakers
Cons: A bit slower RAM, a weak iGPU, and a display not suitable for color-related professional work, pixelated camera

Verdict

TECNO MEGABOOK K15s

At PHP 44,999, the TECNO MegaBook K15s strikes a fine balance between processing power and affordability.

It offers a slim, lightweight all-metal build, decent battery life, effective cooling, ample RAM and storage, and surprisingly loud speakers—making it a solid all-rounder for students and young professionals.

Gaming is limited to casual titles, as the integrated graphics struggle with more demanding, current-gen games.

That said, if raw performance at an accessible price is what you're after, the TECNO MegaBook K15s is one of the better Windows laptop options in its price range.

What do you guys think?
