Wear OS 7's new Widgets come in 2 x 1 and 2 x 2 layouts, mirroring the format available on Android phones. Live Updates allow apps to display real-time information without being opened. Media controls have also been improved, with per-app auto-launch settings and a Remote Output Switcher for easier audio routing.

Other additions include a Wear Workout Tracker for standardized fitness tracking and support for Watch Face Format v5.

Gemini AI is coming to select smartwatches later this year, supported by a new App Functions API that lets developers connect their apps with AI assistants. Google also confirmed task automation support, enabling actions like placing a food delivery order through a voice command.

Developers can explore the update through the Wear OS 7 Canary Emulator. A public release is scheduled for later in 2026.
