REDMI K90 Ultra: 8,550mAh battery, cooling fan, and Snapdragon 8 Elite chip

Xiaomi releases a new high-performance device with very large battery and strong internals.

The device is available now in Shadow Black, Space Silver, and Sky Blue color options. The handset carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, while the cooling fan module is independently rated at IPX8 and IPX9

The phone features a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED screen running at a 1.5K resolution 2772 x 1280 with a 165Hz refresh rate. 

The brand is using M10 display material here, which the company says can hit a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. For touch input, the screen registers a 480Hz multi-finger reporting rate and a 3,500Hz instant touch sampling rate to reduce input lag.

Inside, the REDMI K90 Ultra runs on the 4.21GHz 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. 

There is also a secondary D2 display chip designed to handle AI upscaling and frame interpolation for games. 

To keep the hardware cool, Xiaomi added an active air-cooling system that uses an 18.1mm fan operating at a reported 32dB, working alongside a 6,000mm² vapor chamber to move heat away from the processor.

Another highlight is the large 8,550mAh battery supported by a USB-C 100W wired fast charging, 22.5W wired reverse charging, and bypass charging.

The camera system is relatively straightforward. The main rear camera uses a 50MP Light Hunter 800 sensor (1/1.55-inch) with an f/1.68 aperture and OIS. 

There is also an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and the rear setup can record video at up to 8K at 30fps. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel camera for selfies and 1080p video.

It also includes dual stereo speakers tuned by Bose, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and an X-axis linear motor for haptics.

On the connectivity front, the Redmi K90 Ultra supports WiFi 7, 5G, 4G, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, and dual SIM

The device ships with Xiaomi's HyperOS 3 operating system.

It is currently available in China. The device could launch as a POCO smartphone sometime in the near future although we will have to get back to you once it's officially confirmed.
