HONOR, a global AI device ecosystem company, has announced the launch of the HONOR Robot Phone, a new device that integrates a fully motorized 3-axis mechanical gimbal into a smartphone design. The company describes the product as combining selected elements of ARRI Image Science and professional cinema workflows, positioning it as both a smartphone and a mobile production tool.
4DoF titanium gimbal system
The device incorporates what HONOR calls the industry's first 4DoF mechanical gimbal system in a smartphone, built around its Titanium Agile Gimbal. According to the company, the system was developed through 60 manufacturing processes, uses more than 100 precision components, and is covered by more than 100 patents.

HONOR states the gimbal system is 65% smaller than mainstream alternatives while offering 200% greater structural strength.
The company also cites a 2.6g titanium gimbal motor capable of control speeds up to 360 degrees per second, and a "Super steel" flip motor with a torque density of 120 N·m/L.
Imaging partnership with ARRI
The Robot Phone is the first product resulting from a Cinematic Imaging Partnership between HONOR and ARRI, the cinema camera manufacturer. The device applies selected elements of ARRI's image science and workflow approach to smartphone photography and video.
Its rear camera system includes a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.6 aperture mounted on the gimbal + 200MP periscope telephoto camera offering a 1/1.4-inch sensor and 2.7x optical zoom.

Meanwhile, a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 122-degree field of view completes the setup. The main camera supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording in a dedicated "ARRI CINEMA" mode.
HONOR says the partnership brings ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks together with its own H1 image chip, with AI processing said to improve video signal-to-noise ratio by 8 dB and extend dynamic range up to 14 stops.
The company states that noise reduction occurs early in the RAW domain, that data is processed in 14-bit 4:4:4, and that output is delivered in 10-bit LogC3 and 4:2:2 formats.
ARRI Looks can reportedly be previewed in real time, and footage can be brought into editing software such as DaVinci Resolve, where ARRI LUTs can be applied directly.
Harald Brendel, Director of Image Science at ARRI, commented on the partnership:
For more than a century, ARRI has helped filmmakers translate technology into compelling visual stories. Our cooperation with HONOR brings selected elements of ARRI Image Science and professional workflow thinking into a new mobile context, giving creators greater consistency, control, and creative flexibility from capture through post-production. With the HONOR Robot Phone, we are taking an important first step in exploring how established cinematic principles can support a new generation of visual storytellers.
HONOR said the two companies plan to continue refining the integrated imaging technologies based on further testing and real-world use.
The phone has an all-metal unibody design and a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display, which HONOR says is protected by its NanoCrystal Shield and supports adaptive refresh rates from 1–120Hz with peak brightness of 6,800 nits. The company also cites eye-comfort features including 4320Hz PWM dimming.
The Robot Phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform and includes a custom cooling system intended to sustain performance during extended recording. It is equipped with a 7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery, along with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.
AI-driven motion features
Running on HONOR's MagicOS, the Robot Phone includes a "YOYO Robot Mode" that combines multimodal perception, contextual understanding, gesture recognition, and physical movement. The camera arm supports several motion modes, including Tilt Lock, First Person View, FPV Vertical, and AI SpinShot.
The company says voice source localization and AI live-tracking allow the camera to pan and tilt automatically to keep users in frame during vlogging, livestreaming, or video calls, and that gesture controls let users operate the camera arm without touching the device.

It also uses a separate feature called the YOYO Auto Execution, which is described as a system-level AI agent capable of carrying out multi-step tasks across supported apps and settings. HONOR also said the device offers an open "Agent Skills" interface for third-party developers to build on its gimbal and perception capabilities.
The Robot Phone was first shown at Mobile World Congress in March 2026 before being featured at the Cannes Film Festival's China Night event and the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival. HONOR is now beginning the device's commercial rollout.
