PLDT Home's bundle strategy takes on Converge and Globe on value, not just speed

When choosing an internet provider, speed is no longer the factor consumers should consider. There are other things households should consider, such as reliable connectivity, strong WiFi throughout the home, responsive support, and plans that deliver better overall value–not just more megabits.

As competition among Philippine telcos intensifies, providers are taking different approaches to winning over consumers. Converge and Globe At Home are competing mainly on raw megabits per peso, but following GIZGUIDE's scan of plans and their inclusions, PLDT Home's latest Fiber portfolio makes a strong case for being the market's most utility-packed option.

Rather than compete on speed alone, PLDT Home is addressing what today's households value most: reliable connectivity, seamless entertainment, and everyday essentials bundled into a single plan for overall value.

GFiber 1499 also comes with a WiFi 6 modem, access to Blast TV, and freebie service worth up to PHP 2K. Converge ICT comes with WiFi 6, Sky TV, and Xperience Hub.

Speed alone, however, does not capture the full financial picture for a household. While competitors focus on speed, PLDT Home bundles in connectivity and entertainment services that would otherwise cost extra on separate monthly bills.

The PLDT Home Fiber Unli All 1499 plan illustrates that approach: alongside its 200 Mbps connection, it includes a landline with mobile features, a 9GB smart data plan, Cignal TV, and an HBO Max Standard subscription, all under one bill. Moreover, it comes with a faster and more efficient WiFi 6 router.

Beyond speed, PLDT Home is also addressing the realities of today's connected households. With more people working from home, streaming, gaming, and running multiple devices at once, customers increasingly value reliable connectivity, wider WiFi coverage, and solutions that keep them connected during unexpected disruptions.

A PLDT Home Fiber subscriber since 2018 says the service has delivered consistently fast speeds over the years. While it rarely hits its advertised maximum speed at all times, it stays close enough to keep latency low and daily use uninterrupted.

Service interruptions have become common in the Philippines due to weather and infrastructure issues. Based on this subscriber's experience in their area, however, PLDT Home has stayed online longer than competitors and has been quicker to repair outages when they occur.
