Pushing the boundaries?

Mobile maker vivo has officially confirmed that its next-generation flagship smartphone lineup, the vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max, will launch in China this September. Succeeding the X300 series, the upcoming flagship devices focus heavily on professional video recording capabilities.

In a recent update on Weibo, vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao unveiled key specs and teasers surrounding the flagship series, internally codenamed 'Thanos 500', a nod to the ultra-high telephoto capabilities pioneered by its predecessors.

The highlight of the teasers focused heavily on groundbreaking video and mobile camera upgrades. According to vivo, the vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max will pioneer a brand-new camera setup engineered to dominate low-light and high-contrast environments.

The teaser image confirmed that the series will come with a ZEISS Ultra Dynamic main camera with a 1/1.28-inch Sony Blueprint 'Phantom 900 (Guangyu 900)' sensor. This sensor was made in collaboration by Sony and vivo's in-house Blueprint imaging team. It is advertised to deliver 17EV of dynamic range, 4K 240fps slow motion, and 4K 120fps HDR direct video output.

It will also include an upgraded 200MP Samsung HP0 large-sensor periscope camera with lossless zoom capability. vivo also says that it will feature an industry-leading 3-degree wide-angle Optical Image Stabilization paired with CIPA 7.0-level professional stabilization.

vivo's teaser also disclosed that the series will feature a custom ISP, enhanced ZEISS T* lens coating, the next-generation flagship SoCs from MediaTek Dimensity and Snapdragon 8 Gen series, a high-brightness, low-power visual panel, and will run on OriginOS in China.

The vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max are slated for an official rollout in China in September, with global releases expected in subsequent months. Full pricing, detailed color variants, and battery specs will be revealed during the official launch event.
