GAC Aion UT receives 5-star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

The GAC Aion UT, a compact electric hatchback, has received a five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) for 2026. GAC said the vehicle is among the first mass-produced models from a Chinese automaker to pass the organization's latest, stricter round of testing, which places greater emphasis on active safety, driver assistance systems, and protection for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Aion UT scored 66% in Safe Driving, 74% in Crash Avoidance, 91% in Crash Protection, and 88% in Post-Crash Safety, according to Euro NCAP's assessment.

GAC attributed the result in part to the vehicle's body structure, which the company calls a "Dragon-Bone Embraced Body Structure." 

High-strength steel makes up 71% of the body, and the design includes a one-piece hot-stamped dual-ring frame, a 180mm crash box, and a roof rated to withstand up to 8 tons of load, the company said.

The cabin is equipped with a seven-airbag system, including a 2.1-meter side air curtain and a front far-side airbag intended to reduce occupant-to-occupant impact in side collisions. The vehicle also includes autonomous emergency braking that GAC says exceeds regulatory requirements, along with cyclist dooring prevention and child presence detection.

The GAC AION UT's latest global accolade aligns seamlessly with GAC's core brand philosophy of consistently building around trust and innovation to deliver uncompromised safety and consumer protection, setting a benchmark for small pure-electric vehicles worldwide.

The Aion UT will be available in six exterior finishes, including Champs-Élysées Beige, Emerald Green, Rococo White, Seine Silver, Twilight Lavender, and two-tone options combining Rococo White and Emerald Green, paired with black interiors.

GAC said its manufacturing background includes more than two decades of collaboration with Toyota and Honda, alongside its own investment in electrification and connected-vehicle technology.

The company operates a network of 30 dealerships in the Philippines, along with a dedicated parts warehouse and two years of complimentary roadside assistance. 

Warranty coverage varies by powertrain. Internal-combustion models, including the GS4, GS3 Emzoom, Emkoo, GS8, Empow, M6 Pro, GN6, and M8, are covered for five years or 150,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. 

Electric models, including the Aion Y, Hyptec HT, Aion UT, Aion V, and Aion ES, get an eight-year, 160,000-kilometer basic warranty, along with an extended eight-year, 200,000-kilometer warranty on the traction battery and electric drive components. 

Plug-in hybrid and hybrid models, including the GS4 Max, E8, GN8, and GS8, carry a five-year, 150,000-kilometer basic warranty, plus an eight-year, 150,000-kilometer warranty on the power battery, driving motor, and motor control unit.
