Apple is making waves in the smart home market with the introduction of the Apple HomeView. This device is designed to be the central hub for household entertainment, communication, and automation, effectively bridging the gap between smart displays and high-fidelity audio equipment. With its floating touch interface and advanced machine learning features, the HomeView represents Apple's most ambitious effort in connected home technology to date.
The HomeView draws aesthetic inspiration from minimalist industrial design, featuring a sleek aluminum body with a floating display attached to a compact base. The tabletop model is supported by a rounded speaker dome that connects to the display via a smooth stainless steel hinge, allowing users to easily adjust the viewing angle for kitchen counters, nightstands, or side tables. It comes in four distinct colors: Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink, and Space Gray, each with a matching woven USB-C power cable. For hallways and entryways, Apple offers a wall-mounted version in Silver and Space Gray, specifically designed to integrate seamlessly using custom Schneider Home mounts.

The device boasts a vibrant 7-inch Liquid Retina Display equipped with adaptive visual technology suited for any room. True Tone technology automatically adjusts the screen's color temperature based on ambient lighting throughout the day. To ensure visual comfort in both bright kitchens and dark bedrooms, the display has a wide automatic brightness range that can scale from a vivid 500 nits during the day down to a subtle 0.3 nits at night. Additionally, the proximity-aware interface dynamically alters its complexity based on how close you are: it presents large, easy-to-read text and fun visuals from a distance, and then smoothly expands into detailed controls as you get closer.
At the heart of the HomeView is the highly efficient A18 silicon chip, which provides the necessary architecture for real-time local sensor processing, sophisticated audio computation, and on-device AI tasks. The tabletop model features an impressive acoustic system, including two custom full-range drivers integrated into the display frame, complemented by a down-firing woofer and dual-force-canceling passive radiators in the base for enhanced bass performance. Both versions also support immersive Spatial Audio, can pair with HomePods and other AirPlay speakers for multi-room audio, and include a front-facing camera with Center Stage support for clear, automatically framed FaceTime calls.

The HomeView runs on a custom, streamlined operating system designed for multi-user households. Instead of a traditional app store, it focuses on core Apple experiences and deep ecosystem integration. The system can recognize up to six different household members through facial and voice identification, instantly adapting the home screen layout, calendars, reminders, and music playlists to match whoever is in front of it.
A standout feature is Siri AI, powered by the A18 chip and the next generation of Apple intelligence. This version of Siri acts as a context-aware assistant, capable of understanding deep personal context when paired with a compatible iPhone or iPad. It can access information from Messages and Calendar, manage media playback, answer general knowledge questions, and synchronize conversation history across other Apple devices via iCloud. As a smart home hub, it seamlessly works with Apple Home and Matter-certified accessories, allowing users to control lights, locks, thermostats, and view up to nine security camera feeds simultaneously using a single touch or voice command.
