With online security concerns growing day by day, Maya is encouraging customers to use the account-security tools available in its app, including trusted-phone enrollment and biometric approval for Send Money transactions.

Security tools in one place

Introduced late last year, the in-app Security Center gathers security controls and help resources in one place. Customers can find it through Profile or Services, or follow the enrollment prompt after logging in.

Customers with upgraded Maya accounts can enroll a trusted phone, subject to Maya’s security checks. Once enrolled, they can use their phone’s Face ID or fingerprint instead of an SMS one-time password to approve Send Money transactions.

The Account Security section lets customers view and remove trusted phones, review past logins, change their registered mobile number or password, and update their email address.

Card and transfer controls

The app also includes Freeze My Cards, which lets Maya Black and Landers Cashback Everywhere credit cardholders freeze their cards.

Through Transfer Limits, customers can manage limits for InstaPay transfers from Maya Wallet to other banks and Insta-fill transfers from Maya Savings into Maya Wallet.

Protecting our customers’ money requires continuing investment in infrastructure, safeguards, monitoring and incident response. It also means giving customers clear ways to manage their account security and reach us when they need help, said Shailesh Baidwan, Maya Group President and Maya Bank Co-Founder.

Broader efforts to combat scams

According to Maya, these customer-facing controls complement broader safeguards, including AI-supported fraud monitoring. Maya Philippines and Maya Bank have held ISO 27001 certifications for information security management since 2022 and ISO 27701 certifications for privacy information management since 2023, according to the company.

The company also promotes scam awareness through Maya ScamPatrol, which shares guidance on recognizing fraud tactics and adopting safer digital habits.

Beyond its platform, Maya also works with regulators and law enforcement agencies, including the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, the Department of Justice, and the Philippine National Police. Its work includes supporting the CICC's Scam Safe initiative to strengthen public awareness of online scams and cyber fraud.

We work with government and industry partners to combat financial scams and strengthen customer protection, Baidwan said. He added that cooperation goes hand in hand with continuing to improve Maya’s safeguards and helping customers use financial services with confidence.
