The new product targets listeners who want to hear their music while still hearing what is happening around them, since it rests on the outer ear rather than blocking the ear canal.

Samsung said the clip-on build was shaped by research into varied ear shapes. The company also repositioned the speakers, batteries, and flexible band to spread pressure evenly and keep the earbuds in place during physical activity.

It also added that each earbud has a touch-sensitive surface on its back for controlling playback and calls.

Meanwhile, sound comes from TwinBoost speakers built to strengthen bass.  Additionally, the earbuds raise or lower volume automatically based on ambient noise,

Samsung also added that its Audio Leakage Reduction feature aims to keep sound from spilling out of the open design.

Inside, it uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform with a Class-D amplifier, and rates battery life at up to 9.5 hours of music playback per charge.

Call quality relies on three microphones and a Voice Pickup Sensor that uses bone conduction. Machine-learning software filters out background noise to isolate the wearer's voice. The earbuds also tie into Galaxy AI, allowing users to open Gemini Live by voice.

Finally, a long press records a voice memo, which can later be searched through Bixby. Head gestures can answer or end calls, silence alarms, and bring up notifications.
