Often, sans the budget dual boot Windows tabs, the Android tablet scene from the mainstream brands isn't the better evolving part of the tech industry. That's where Huawei is trying to capitalize and fill the void with the T1 7.0 Plus.

Unboxing / Accessories

What surprised me here is the way Huawei presented this item. It comes with the sleek looking black box that's usually reserved for their higher end models such as the Huawei G8 and etc.

It comes with an international version of 2A wall charger, thick yet flexible enough micro USB charging / data cables and FREE earphones aside from the unit itself.

Then if you pre-order at Lazada Philippines this April 20 - May 5, 2016, there are several freebies that includes: Gouche Bag (1.8K Pesos), leather flip cover case (500 Pesos) and earphones (900 Pesos).

While the entire package is absolutely impressive, we would like it better if Huawei included an adapter to fit our outlets here in the Philippines.

Build Quality / Design

In terms of materials used, the Huawei T1 7.0 Plus feels in between premium and midrange on a budget. That's a bold statement as the tablet is made out of high quality materials with a combination of smooth rounded metal frame / back, tough looking plastic on top / bottom and glass front. However, this tablet doesn't have any sort of protection in its glass so using a screen protector is a must consider.

You'll also find there the micro SD / SIM card slots

Design-wise, the T1 7.0 feels like a standard 7 inch tablet with several enhancement to make it look better and functional. Huawei's metallic design signature is still there, making it still a looker in person and chrome paint look just below the screen.

What we liked here there are some texture on its upper and lower plastic part that adds more grip to our hold aside from the semi curved back. Surprisingly, it fits my dominant hand comfortably. Most likely, it's below 300 grams weight helps a lot on that matter.

In terms of button placements and overall ergonomics, we're glad to say that there's no weird implementations here, it's more on the standard side which most won't have a problem at all.

Specs and features analysis

Donning a 7 inch WVSGA screen, it should be great enough for your entertainment and casual games. However, an HD screen would be better, but at least the colors and viewing angles looks acceptable overall.

In terms of CPU used, it rocks 1.2 GHz SC7731 quad core processor paired with Mali 400 GPU. That configuration isn't the best out there, but it's acceptable for social media purposes and casual internet gaming such as clash of clans and the likes.

What's interesting here is this tablet has 2 GB of RAM which is a rarity for Android tablets in the sub-6.5K range coming from a popular international brand. In that sense, you'll be able to open more apps simultaneously or multitask better than casual 1 GB RAM tabs.

The other highlight of the T1 7.0 Plus is its large 4,100 mAh of battery that can last up to 12 hours of straight usage as per Huawei Philippines. It also has a reverse USB OTG feature that enables you to make it as a substitute powerbank.

Lastly, it has a 5 MP rear camera with AF that looks pretty nice, 2 MP front facing cam for your selfies and video calls, loudspeakers and phone function with 3G connectivity.

As of the moment

Huawei's T1 7.0 Plus is a clear improvement over their old device. This should be good enough for most who wanted a handy multimedia tablet on the go that even has 3G connectivity and can be used as a substitute phone.

As of now, we think that it's a decent buy especially with all those freebies included in the package at Lazada Philippines.
