Few months after it was first launched last August, team GIZGUIDE was finally able to have a good hold of ASUS's current hero product, the all-new ZenFone 4.

The ZenFone 4's dual camera setup |
During our trip in Iloilo City few days back, we used the ZenFone 4 priced at PHP 28,995 as our primary smartphone.
|
The single 8MP selfie camera |
We used and test the capabilities of its dual camera setup consisting of a 12MP Sony IMX362 f/1.8 primary sensor w/ Dual Pixel PDAF and OIS paired w/ another 8MP f/1.8 sensor w/ 120 degrees super wide angle lens.
It also has LED flash w/ color correction sensor and auto HDR and pro camera mode.
For selfies, we also checked what its 8MP f/2.0 front camera is capable off.
We used its back and front cameras to take photos of the sceneries, history, culture, people in that area, and the activities we did for Operation Smile.
Here's some of the promising shots we took using the ASUS ZenFone 4.

In daylight, most of the time, the ASUS ZenFone 4 can live up to its promise of taking photos you'll love.
Shooting speed is fast, focus is quick, and it can be a good buddy for close-up shots. Auto HDR also works really well to provide more details on subjects that's hard to capture.
Note: The Pro mode even has 1/10000th to 32 seconds and ISO 25 to ISO 3200 settings.
Speaking of details, most of the shots we took are sharp in details w/ minimal grain and vibrant in colors. Though sometimes, colors are slightly blueish tint for that colder tone effect that some loves.
In lowlight, there are even occasions where dynamic range and details are kinda fine even on point and shoot.
The secondary wide angle sensor is only good for outdoor photos or well-lit indoor shots. I'll be grainy in details and paler in color versus the main 12MP sensor. But, hey, at least you can now shoot 120 degrees wide angle shots even on a phone.
The selfie camera even at just 8MP is more enjoyable to use than the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro for us. It has good overall details and colors for an 8MP f/2.0 front camera. It even has a decent type of portrait mode that can produce bokeh shots even in front.
Overall, results are promising so far. However, it is just average in performance at this price point.
We hope that ASUS would seed more updates to enhance and maximize the full potential of its cameras.
What do you think guys?
