Social media users in the Philippines faced disruptions today, June 12, 2026, around 9:30 PM as Facebook and Messenger went down, leaving many unable to access accounts, search, post, or send messages.
Facebook and Messenger are down
Some (including us) reported being logged out of Messenger entirely, adding to the communication blackout.
Instagram, another Meta-owned platform, also experienced a brief outage during the same period. Users noted issues with browsing and posting, but the app seems to have quickly recovered and is now back online.
Meanwhile, Threads, while slower than usual, remains functional, giving users an alternative space to stay connected while Facebook and Messenger continue to face problems.
Several Filipinos turned to Reddit's
r/Tech_Philippines and X (formerly Twitter) to check if the platforms were down, share updates, and confirm the widespread outage.
Update: Facebook services in the Philippines are back.
Meanwhile, the Messenger Platform is still facing some issues. Meta said,
We are currently experiencing high disruptions impacting Messenger Platform. Our engineering teams are investigating the issue. We will provide another update if additional information is available.
This is a developing story...
