Huawei's newly launched Mate 10 is the more affordable brother of the Mate 10 Pro. It is the slightly "lower-end device" on paper, but they have lots of similarities in overall specs.

Dual f/1.6!

Speaking of those similarities, the Mate 10 has the same high-rated camera of the Mate 10 Pro. It has the new and improved Leica dual camera setup behind.

The cameras on a phone again?

In particular, the Mate 10 also has the A.I. enhanced Summilux Leica dual cameras. It has a 20MP f/1.6 monochrome sensor + 12MP f/1.6 RGB sensor paired w/ a 4-in-1 Hybrid AF, OIS, 2x zoom, and dual tone LED flash.

Huawei also boasts that it has AI based intelligent photography technology that understands your subject and automatically adjust the best settings for it.

In addition, the Mate 10 still also has all the robust camera settings found on the P10 series

For selfies, Huawei added an 8MP f/2.0 w/ screen flash. It is just noticeably lower in specs versus the f/1.9 sensor found on the P9 Plus and P10 series.

Anyway, let's take a look a the first few shots we took using the of the Huawei Mate 10 w/ prototype software.

Initial results are jaw dropping for a phone! The Huawei P10 Plus is a very good high-end camera phone, but the Mate 10 blew it away in terms of overall quality.

Details are simply crispier, colors are more accurate and life like, and focus speed is much better. Dynamic range even in lowlight is incredible as well. Auto white balance adjustment is amazing. Selfies are just fine too!

So far, this handset has arguably the best cameras we ever tried on a smartphone.
