IDC: Top 5 smartphone companies market share (Q1 2018)

International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker shows that a total of 334.4 million units were sold by smartphone companies during the 1st quarter of 2018.

It showed a 2.9% decline to the 344.4 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2017. Basing on the data released by the IDC, Samsung is still the leader in the global smartphone market. 

The Korean smartphone company is followed by Apple. The iPhone maker move 52.2 million iPhones representing a modest 2.8% year-over-year increase from the 50.8 million units shipped last year.

Meanwhile, Huawei was seen to grew 13.8% in overall shipment volume. The Chinese smartphone company was able to to ship 39.3 million.

Xiaomi places fourth on the IDC data for the first quarter of 2018. It showed a 87.8% growth with 28 million global shipment. 

OPPO is on the fifth place with 23.9 million shipments worldwide and 7.1% market share.
