Globe-Huawei partnership is ready to bring 5G in the Philippines by Q2 of 2019!

Globe Telecom announces that they will start rolling out commercially the 5G wireless technology in the country by the second quarter of 2019!

Globe-Huawei Strategic Partnership brings states of the art 5G technology to enhance the digital lifestyle of Filipinos.

In November 2015, Globe has extended its partnership with Huawei by signing a five-year contract involving the planning and design of a wireless broadband network. They are also creating a wireless innovation center.

The fifth-generation (5G) network boasts of higher speeds, lower latency (lags), and better capacity. In countries where 5G is already available, it can only be enjoyed via wired connections. But Globe promises that they will deploy fixed wireless broadband at a fiber speed. 

Globe executives showcased to the media how fast the Globe 5G can be via live speedtest! The speedtest showed that it can go as fast as 2.07 Gbps! Yes, 'G' meaning Gigabytes per second!

Air Fiber internet, which makes use of fixed location wireless radios instead of fiber, could provide speeds ranging from 50Mbps to 100Mbps, said Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO.

This technology needs some years to obtain fiber optic roll-out completion. Globe will need to go over approval process that includes multiple permits from local government units (LGUs) to deploy fiber optic cables.

The telecommunications company promised that they will start rolling out the 5G network by the second quarter of 2019.
