Though on in paper, the A6 and the J6 have a lot of similarities, but Samsung Representatives made a point that the two have different target markets.

The newly announced J6 is for the best possible mobile entertainment experience at a more affordable price point.

Let's see how it fares!

The Samsung Galaxy J6 (2018) is priced at PHP 13,990 (PHP 11,990 sale price) but at first glance, you'd mistake it for a device priced higher.

Upon closer inspection, it has the premium curved glass panel on top of the 720p panel. It also has the shiny but solid metal frame encasing the display and the faux metal textured polycarbonate back plate.

The display is a 5.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED 1480 x 720 resolution w/ Infinity Display, 2.5D curved glass and Gorilla Glass protection at 294 ppi that gives it the deepest blacks and good contrast ratios for the price point.

Premium looking mid-ranger!

Bezels are there but they aren't that thick. The aspect ratio is 18.5:9 so it is quite immersive.

Powering it are the 1.6GHz 64-bit Exynos 7870 octa-core processor and the  Mali-T830 MP1 with 3GB of RAM.

Though the Exynos 7870 isn't the most powerful processor for the price point, it isn't a slouch and is capable of pushing PUBG at low smoothly.

It comes with 32GB of internal storage and is expandable up to 256GB for those who want to maximise having content for entertainment on the go.

The rear camera is a single 13MP f/1.9 w/ AF and LED flash while the selfie camera is a 8MP f/1.9 w/ LED flash.

It has the Live Focus (bokeh effect) feature that has been the staple with Samsung for years.

The rest of the features

The phone has the usual connectivity features like WiFi, 4G LTE and Bluetooth 4.2. It supports OTG, FM Radio, GPS, A-GPS.

It is dual SIM compatible with sensors like accelerometer, light, orientation, proximity, gyroscope, sound, and magnetic sensors.

It supports face unlock and has the digital assistant Bixby.

The biggest feature here is the support for Dolby Atmos that can run across all apps on the phone.

So far, we like most of what the phone offers given that it is an affordable entertainment first phone. It checks most of the needs list out.

Our only gripe is that the promotional materials heavily focused on gaming but it can only run PUBG smoothly in low settings. It would have been more pleasing if it could do a little more.
