Huawei Mate 20 launches in a bit, what to expect?

In a bit, Huawei will make the new Mate 20 series official. Based on numerous leaks and teasers, they could be the most exciting series of Android phones this year.

To make everyone even more excited about it, we list the things to expect with the Mate 20 phones.

1. New design - Several leaks revealed that the Mate 20 phones will look different compared with the Mate 10 phones last year. Evan Blass leaked that the Mate 20 Pro will come with a bigger notch while the Mate 20 will arrive with a smaller notch design. They will also arrive with a sleek looking curved glass back and new gradient colors.

The Mate 20 Porsche design is expected to be the most premium among them all. The Mate 20X could feature a massive 7.21-inch screen with a Samsung Note-like stylus.

2. Speedier performance - Inside, it is no secret that the new Mate phones will be powered by the Kirin 980 processor. It is based under the 7 nm FinFET process with 6.9 billion transistors like the Apple A12 Bionic chip. Leaked benchmark scores revealed that it will be the fastest Android smartphone this year.

It will also come with Mali-G76 MP10 GPU, LPDDR4X support, new Dual ISP, 4G LTE Cat 21,  dual-frequency L1 an L5 GPS, and a Dual NPU for AI.

3. Better AI - Since the phone now has two NPUs, the Mate 20 will handle AI tasks better than the Mate 10 with single NPU. Huawei claimed that it now has better real-time user experience in facial recognition, object recognition, object detection, image segmentation, AI translation, and more.

4. Massive RAM and ROM options - Leaks suggests that the Mate 20 series could come with at least 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. But, it could go as high as 8GB RAM and a whopping 512GB storage for the top-end variant. It has LPDDR4X RAM, the fastest on found on phones right now.

6. Bigger battery capacity - Huawei teased that the Mate 20 phones will come with a bigger battery than the competition. It simply means that it will be in the over 4,000mAh range. Leaks suggests that it could sit at 4,200mAh and higher.

7. Faster charging and wireless charging solution - Huawei teased that the Mate 20 could come with SuperCharge technology which can fill the battery of the phone up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Moreover, the new Mates will be the first to come with a wireless charging technology.

8. Nicer Leica cameras - The Mate 20 phones will still have a triple Leica camera setup. But, it will be different coming from the P20 Pro. Huawei teased that it could come with a wide-angle lens. Leaks suggests that one of those lenses could be a 42MP sensor. Interesting!

9. Improved selfie shooter - The Mate 20 could also feature a better 24MP shooter versus the P20 Pro. Let's also expect it to come with AI-enhanced face beauty tech and other cool features like stickers and facial recognition.

10. In-Display fingerprint scanner - Like the Mate RS last year, the Mate 20 will feature an In-Display fingerprint scanning solution. Let's expect it to be faster than most In-Display fingerprint scanners right now since this is a high-end device.

One of phones could cost at EUR 850 in Europe. But, we can expect a lower price tag once it reaches the Philippine shores like what they normally do.
