For the starting price of PHP 9,990, it is one of the very few with the 3D gradient glass-like back, 6.21-inch FHD+ dewdrop screen, 12nm Kirin 710 AI SoC solution, 13MP f/1.8 + 2MP f/2.4 AI dual-cameras, 24MP AI selfie camera, and Android 9.0 Pie OS with EMUI 9.0 skin out of the box.

Promising right? Let's check it out!

First, you will see the handset itself. Next, you will find the 5V/2A USB wall charger, USB-A to micro USB data/charging cable, flexible TPU clear case, SIM ejector tool, and the paper documentations.

Build Quality/Design

Glass-like back

The build of Honor 10 Lite reminds us of the Huawei Y9 2019. It also has an all plastic frame and back cover. But, the paint finish of the paint made it feel and look close to premium at the price point. The backplate/back cover is 3D glass-like.

Nice construction, stylish design!

In front, it has a glass 2.5D curved 6.21-inch display with FHD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution. Honor failed to mention if it has Gorilla Glass or any sort of glass protection on top.

Overall, construction of the phone is respectable at this price point. However, I will still recommend to put a case and screen protector to prevent damages from drops and annoying hairline scratches.

In terms of design, it is like the Huawei Y9 as well. It has a glossy finish at the back with stylish 3D curve at the back. You can even get it in stylish gradient blue color option.

In front, the screen is also impressive. It has a 6.21-inch curved panel with tall 19:5:9 screen aspect ratio. The bezels are slim even on the chin and the dewdrop notch is as tiny as the halo notch of Vivo and waterdrop notch of OPPO.

Honor claimed that it has over 90 percent of screen-to-body ratio. I think that their claim is accurate this time. The screen design of this handset is very impressive, especially for the price.

Honor also cleverly placed the super slim earpiece on top of the notch.

Moreover, even if it has a big 6.21-inch screen, the Honor 10 Lite is even smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus with 5.5-inch screen. The Honor 10 Lite measures at 154.8 x 73.64 x 7.95 mm versus the 154.8 x 73.64 x 7.95 mm of the iPhone 8 Plus. Impressive!

Moving back, the Honor 10 Lite has a vertically aligned dual-camera setup. Below the cameras, you will find the single LED flash. In the middle, you'll see the 360-degree fingerprint scanner.

On the top, there's the hybrid dual SIM/microSD card tray and a microphone. Below, there's a 3.5 mm headphone jack slot, another mic, micro USB port, and 5-hole speaker.

There's nothing at left and there's the usual power button and volume rocker at right.

Without a case, the handset is a bit slippery to hold though. It is quite prone to fingerprint smudges as well.

Initial findings

1. Honor 10 Lite is a pretty phone, especially at this price point. The Honor 10 Lite screen is also sharper than most at this price point. It has a 6.21-inch 2.5D curved IPS screen w/ FHD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution at 415 ppi. It has good color reproduction and nice viewing angles as well.

2. Any phone with Kirin 710 octa-core processor in the PHP 9,990 to PHP 10,990 price point is considered as very powerful. It also has the Mali-G51 MP4 GPU and it is one of the few with GPU Turbo 2.0 technology as well.

The handset as ample 3GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. I would have liked it better if it has 4GB of RAM though. But for the price, 3GB RAM is still decent. The more important thing is it has a pretty fast chipset.

It also has 3,400mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity.

3. Unlike most budget phones, Honor 10 Lite runs with Android Pie out of the box. Since it is an Honor device, it has Huawei's EMUI skin, the latest EMUI 9.0 skin. As expected, it is cleaner and snappier than ever. Icons have been updated and it is more integrated with Google than ever.

4. The cameras are great for the price. It is one of the few with a 13MP f/1.8 + 2MP f/2.4 dual-camera setup. It even has PDAF, Master AI, and LED flash.

Moreover, it has the AIS Super Night Mode handheld long exposure feature for stunning night shots. As of writing, it is cheapest with the said feature.

The main camera of this handset has up to 60fps video shooting quality at 1080p too.

For selfies, it is also one of the most affordable with a 24MP front camera. It has a lot of filters and portrait lighting effects.

5. It comes with face unlock tech, fingerprint scanner at the back, LED notification below the screen, gyroscope sensor, NFC, and dual SIM slots. It is one of the very few with NFC at this price point.

As of the moment

Honor 10 Lite can do a little bit of everything for the price.

It comes with a very stylish design, big screen with sharp resolution and small notch, speedy Kirin 710 chipset, capable dual-camera setup, and a capable 24MP selfie camera.

For me, there are very few who can compete with the Honor 10 Lite at this price point.

So far, quite good!
