The first SoC with built-in 5G

Like other new MediaTek processors, the 5G SoC uses the CPU, GPU, and APU for enhanced and stable performance.

The MediaTek 5G SoC is built under the 7nm FinFET process for power efficiency. MediaTek said that it sports ARM's new Cortex-A77 CPU, a performance powerhouse and Mali-G77 GPU designed for extreme streaming and gaming at 5G speeds.

MediaTek said that it is a multi-mode 5G chipset that uses the Helio M70 5G modem. The Taiwanese tech firm claimed that it has a peak 4.7Gbps download speed in the sub-6GHz category. It also comes with New Radio (NR) 2 Component Carrier (CC), non-standalone and standalone 5G network architecture support.

For AI, the chip uses the new APU 3.0 tech with support for advanced AI applications and imaging.

It also goes with 4K video encode/decode at 60fps and up to 80MP super high-resolution camera support.

Other details about the SoC are still unknown for now. But, we could expect to see it with mobile devices in 2020.
