Globe deploys 5G equipment on a cell site in Pasig City

In a Facebook video, Globe's CEO Ernest Cu showed that their engineers are already installing 5G equipment on a cell site in Pasig City.

Preparation for 5G is real!

Globe's 5G equipment is from Huawei, the global telecommunications equipment king.

Just last week, Globe demonstrated that its 5G network could deliver a maximum internet speed of 850.39 megabits per second (Mbps). 

In 25 tests, Globe was able to hit an average speed of 786.22 Mbps, a big difference in speed today. According to Ookla, the average fixed internet speed in PH last March is just below 20 Mbps.

Industry sources previously said that 5G network will not be matured until 2020, but the recent efforts of Globe is showing that they are on track with their plans.

In fact, the deployment is inline with the company's plan to bring 5G in the Philippines by Q2 of 2019.
