IDC: Xiaomi is now the number 1 wearables company!

Xiaomi overtakes Apple as the top wearables company in the world by shipment volume, market share and year-on-year growth!

Xiaomi is the top wearables company worldwide!

Xiaomi has effectively taken over because of the its investments in Europe and in the Middle East where it gained a significant share in those regions. Its popular Mi Band accounted for around 5 million in shipments.

It resulted in a huge market share of at least 16 percent and a market leading year-on-year growth of 43 percent. (second only to Huawei's 213 percent growth)

Global wearable shipments have reached nearly 50 million units during the first quarter of 2019. This is a 55 percent increase from the previous year that the International Data Corporation Worldwide Device Tracker reported.

Wrist worn wearables took up nearly 64 percent of the shares with the fastest growth of 135 percent from the previous year and is 34.6 percent of all the wearables shipped.

The elimination of headphone jacks and the increased usage of smart assistants both inside and outside the home have been driving factors in the growth of ear-worn wearables, said Jitesh Ubrani research manager for IDC Mobile Device Trackers.
