Just a week after announcing that select areas in Manila will soon enjoy free WiFi, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno launched the ISKOnek kiosk.

Up to 100 users at a time
The ISKOnek kiosk is located outside of the Manila City Hall. It was made possible with Eastern Communications instead of PLDT/Smart.
PLDT/Smart have a different partnership with the city of Manila.
Going back, the ISKOnek kiosk provides FREE WiFi hotspot, charging station, and a phone booth in one.
According to Moreno, ISKOnek can serve up to 100 users at a time. Each users can connect for 30 minutes before he or she is "kicked out of the system" so other people can connect.
Most likely, it will serve as an emergency internet for those who ran out of internet connection but they need it during that time at that certain location.
Connectivity now is a necessity. Ito yung tipong 'pag nawalan ka ng data o load (when you run out of data or load), you can use it, Moreno added.
Based on ABS-CBN's report, it has up to 80 Mbps of speeds.
For security, there are closed-circuit television cameras placed on the top of the kiosk's back-to-back LED screen.
Isko is also planning to add an emergency button to alert a command center in the future.
Both Eastern Communications and the city government will monitor its speed and efficiency for a few weeks as well.
