Why OPPO A9 2020 is the stylish quad-camera phone with extra strong battery life?

Earlier, OPPO formally unleashed the A9 2020 in the Philippines, a promising mid-ranger priced at PHP 15,990.

Modern and stylish design

OPPO A9 2020 highlights a 3D curved glasstic design with unique colorways in space purple and marine green.

Great design!

There's a total of four cameras at the back. There's a vertically-aligned triple-camera hump along with the LED flash and another camera on its side.

It has a Reno-inspired back design with streamlined "Designed for A-Series" texts along with the OPPO logo underneath.

The big 

The display is 6.5-inch big with an improved waterdrop notch. According to OPPO, it is 31.4 percent tinier than the previous generation notch. It has slim side and top bezels with 89 percent of screen-to-body ratio.

The screen also has Gorilla Glass 3+ protection against hairline scratches and to prevent cracks from accidental drops.

Overall, the phone also looks premium, quite handy even if it has a large 6.5-inch display, and not that thick at 9.1 mm despite its large 5,000mAh battery capacity.

Decent speed, superb battery life

Inside, powering this device is the 11nm 2.0GHz 64-bit Snapdragon 665 AIE octa-core processor and Adreno 610 GPU. Based on our initial benchmarks, it has respectable speeds. At AnTuTu it is as fast as the Helio P60 of MediaTek.

The chip may not sound as fast, but during our actual usage, I can barely feel hiccups with most of the basic social media apps that I am using. It can also play NBA 2K20 at mostly high settings with minimal hiccups. Just turn down the cloth simulation.

Most likely, the reason behind that is its use of large 8GB RAM. For storage, it has 128GB by default. That's quite large as well.

Monster battery score

But, the other key highlight of this device is its massive 5,000mAh battery capacity. At PCMark's battery test, it lasted for 26 hours and 28 minutes. It bested the 22 hours and 16 minutes of OPPO A3s last year.

Basically, that is the highest PCMark score that we ever got from any smartphone yet!

Aside from its massive 5,000mAh juice, the other reason why it is a phone with strong battery performance is its use of a power-efficient 11nm chipset and the improved battery management of ColorOS 6 based on Android Pie.

Overall, this chipset/specs combo should be more than decent for running social media apps, binge-watching videos, and playing some games for hours and hours.

Quad-cam for less

At PHP 15,990, A9 2020 is also the most affordable with quad-cam yet. It rocks a 48MP f/1.8 w/ PDAF, EIS + 8MP f/2.24 119-degree ultra wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 monochrome + 2MP f/2.4 depth w/ LED flash.

Neat cam UI

For selfies, there's a 16MP f/2.0 snapper. Personally, I'm quite pleased with the initial shots that I got.

Quad-cam for less!

It even has the Night and Dazzle Color modes for improved low light and daylight shots. I also like the fact that it has EIS for stabilization that works even for 4K video recordings.
