How much difference does PHP 5K make?

Build/Design - Realme 5 Pro features a bit of an improvement from its previous iteration in terms of design. It still glasstic material for its back panel and it has Gorilla Glass 3+ protection.

Samsung Galaxy A50s also has a 3D curved glasstic back with a polycarbonate frame.

Realme 5 Pro's crystal design is quite the head-turner as well as the Galaxy A50s shiny prism design.

This category is pretty close. Both devices offer good looking and premium-feeling design with realme pulling a bit ahead with the presence of Gorilla Glass 3+ protection and splash resistance.

Display - The Galaxy A50s has a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. It even has an In-Display fingerprint reader. As expected with a Super AMOLED screen, it has vibrant and punchy colors with deep blacks.

Realme 5 Pro has a 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS display which is slightly smaller. At this price point, it is one of the better screens with good colors and brightness.

Both devices have small dewdrop style notches up top. Samsung Galaxy A50s pulls ahead a bit here due to the Super AMOLED screen being brighter and more vibrant.

Specs - The Samsung Galaxy A50s has a decent 2.3GHz Exynos 9611 processor with a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU while realme 5 Pro has the better performing 2.3GHz Snapdragon 712 processor with an Adreno 616 GPU for gaming.

The RAM advantage goes to realme 5 Pro as well with an 8GB variant available. Both have expandable 128GB storage

Realme 5 Pro has a slightly bigger battery at 4,050mAh and a faster charging 20W VOOC 3.0 flash charge compared to the Galaxy A50s 4,000mAh and 15W fast charging.

Both are equipped with 48MP primary cameras. However, realme 5 Pro has a better sensor namely the Sony IMX586 sensor.

In particular, Galaxy a50s uses a 48MP f/2.0 + 8MP f/2.2 ultra wide-angle lens + 5MP depth sensor w/ AF and LED flash. Realme 5 Pro has 48MP f/1.79 Sony IMX586 + 8MP f/2.25 119-degree ultra wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 4cm macro + 2MP f/2.4 depth w/ LED flash.

For selfies, Galaxy A50s takes the lead with a 32MP sensor compared to a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor.

Both have some sort of video stabilization.

Samsung Galaxy A50s has an In-Display fingerprint sensor, face unlock, dual-band WiFi. 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5, FM Radio, GPS, GLONASS, and USB-C connectivity.

Realme 5 Pro has a traditional fingerprint sensor, face unlock, splash resistance, Dirac HD Sound, dual-band WiFi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5, OTG, FM Radio, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and USB-C.

Our thoughts

Based on specs, realme 5 Pro offers a more complete device at a lower price range.

Apart from its AMOLED Display, In-Display fingerprint reader, and bigger selfie sensor, the Samsung Galaxy A50s lacks compared to realme 5 Pro.

Realme 5 Pro has a faster CPU and GPU, faster storage solution, bigger RAM, a slightly bigger battery with faster-charging tech, splash resistance, and an overall better package at a substantially lower price tag.
