32MP + 8MP selfie dual-cam |
For selfies, there's a 32MP f/2.0 Samsung ISOCELL GD1 sensor + 8MP f/2.2 105-degree ultra wide-angle w/ LED flash.

48MP shot |
Our next stop is in Wulai, a mountainous district south of New Taipei City, in Taiwan known for its hot springs, including pools. There's a hanging bridge there and falls.

Ultra-wide |
The weather is a bit gloomy that day and I'm glad that the V17 Pro didn't make our shot too bright. It looks quite natural. By the way, this is one of the few ultra-wide shots with less distortion for the price.

V17 Pro portrait |
It can take pretty good portrait shots with respectable background blur. The depth estimation and blur is actually quite nice here.

Indoor food shot |
Next is we got hungry so we grabbed some snacks. It is detailed with good colors and nice depth. Yes, that's quite impressive for a mid-range camera phone under a not-that-well-lit lighting condition.

Macro shot |
Then we went for a short hike to see the falls. But before that, I saw this tiny flower and I saw it as an opportunity to try the macro shot.
I like the fact that it allowed me to go really close without using the zoom camera. Itis decent, but I expected it to be better than this. Artifacts are prominent in this macro shot.

Sea salt caramel coffee |
Then, we reached our destination. But before taking photos of the falls, we got our sea salt caramel coffee first. This close-up shot is actually nice. It is color accurate and very detailed.

Wulai falls main cam |
The we finally saw the Wulai falls! It is majestic and as expected, the main camera of the V17 Pro gave it justice.

Ultra-wide |
But, I was wowed more when I used its ultra-wide camera. It basically allowed me to see the entire beauty of the falls.

Night shot |
At night, we went to the Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf and I got this pretty dramatic night shot on auto mode. I like that even if I didn't use the Night mode, the shot that I got is not noisy.

Taipei 101 at night |
Back in Taipei, I took a photo of Taipei 101 using the Night mode and it is simply stunning. It has crisp details, good exposure, nice light control, and a respectable dynamic range.

Ultra-wide at night |
Sadly, the Night mode is not available for the ultra-wide cam. But fortunately, we still got a decent-looking wide night shot.

Wide selfie |
Of course, I took a wide selfie shot as well. AND fortunately, the shot that I got is still decent-looking with a wide dynamic range even if it is a bit soft.
Our thoughts
The V17 Pro proved that it could be a respectable shooter if you do not have a high-end camera phone or a bulky mirrorless camera. While it still has a few minor flaws, I like that it is versatile enough to let me take respectable to good images in daylight and even at night. The ultra-wide camera of this thing is also one of the decent wide cams for the price.
AND it is the only mid-ranger with a selfie Night mode that you can use right off the bat.
